For those interested, Rutgers hockey is planning a jersey auction of game worn jerseys this summer. They (Rutgers hockey Twitter account) said that they're going to auction of four different sets of game worn jerseys. Check out Rutgers hockey Twitter account for more details. I know I'll be looking forward to it. :)

76ers just approved the first NBA "on jersey" advertisement. Stubhub logo will be placed below the left shoulder. As an opponent to this type of advertising, I think Devils' fans should be increasingly concerned considering the shared ownership.

The NBA owners had to first approve this for it to even be possible, and many more NBA teams will follow suit. Eventually, all of them will but I'm sure a couple will hold out to get brownie points with their fans.

Similarly, the NHL will have to approve this, and once the other sports leagues see the extra revenues that NBA teams are getting, the greed will take over and they'll approve it. It's inevitable. Just like casinos now being everywhere, and just like pot legalization for tax dollars. But yes, when this happens you can bet the Devils will jump on board, like every other NHL team will. And we need all the extra revenue we can get.

That said, it's not like this is anything new. People probably hated ads on the ice and boards, but does that deter anyone here from following the sport/team now? We'll become desensitized to it. Maybe it'll take a deep playoff run for some fans to come back to the team, but is any passionate fan really dropping the team altogether because of a tiny patch on the jersey? There's already a Reebok ad on the back of the jersey.. Does that bother anyone? Fact is, the millions in extra revenue make it too good to pass up. It's the business side that enables us to have the league and teams. It just comes with package.

 No, there isn't. It is the brand's logo. The same brand that, you know, is licensed to make/sell that very jersey. Do you consider the Nike swoosh on the shoes they manufacture an ad? These are not considered advertising costs in any company.

Never said anyone will drop the team because of a few jersey ads. Or that it doesn't make sense from a business perspective. It just sucks. You can make advertising $ on literally every single aspect of the team/venue, that doesn't mean you should. How about ads on helmets? On ice ads outside of just the neutral zone? Ads on each seat in the arena? Eventually you cross the line and simply become visually displeasing.

It's absolutely 100% an advertisement for Reebok. It comes with the license to produce the NHL's jerseys. It's built into the value of their deal. If the NHL asked them to remove it, they would ask the NHL to drop some of the cost of their deal. Maybe Reebok doesn't file it under advertising expense in their internal accounting, but there's a value to their logo being on those jerseys, and in a very visible location.

I agree it sucks, but realistically we all knew this was coming. The advertising on the other places you mentioned? It's coming. Maybe not in our lifetimes but if the NHL exists 200 years from now, I bet there will be more advertising on players' equipment. We just need to be slowly desensitized to it, so that people begrudgingly accept it and eventually become accustomed to it. Just like ads on the boards and ice..

Manufacturing in-house. Your logo is not an ad on your own manufactured goods. Nor is it ever considered one. I get what you're saying. They get exposure from having the license agreement that allows them to have their logo on the back. And you would be correct if a 3rd party was manufacturing the jerseys and Reebok was paying to have their logo displayed. But that isn't the case (as I understand it, anyway).

But back onto the more important issue: Yes, these ads are going to become more invasive and it will suck.

That's an interesting distinction. Thanks for teaching me that!

Anyone know where I can get retro jerseys that arent from sportsk?

I want a Daneyko retro jersey but the numbers on the arms and back that they have on sportsk don't look like the same numbers the devils used.

Advertisements on jerseys are beyond horrible. It'll start with a tiny patch and then it'll be more. Then where does it end? do they try to bring back those piss yellow advertising boards again when that's not enough money?

Your best bet is to buy the blank jersey from SportsK and mail it into Exclusive Pro for customizing. Just be sure to stress that you want the retro number font.

the best/cheapest way to get "authentic" jerseys nowadays is to buy a cheap blank and then send it to EP or Dorholt to get authentic lettering/numbers.

I have done that with 2-3 jerseys now and they look great.

If you order from that site can you post on here about it?

Absolutely will. I'm going to order in the next few days. From my findings, the site customthrowbackjerseys.com is legit. There's also one with hyphens in the address that others have had problems with.

Haha is that Cam Janssen? Missed this post from a month ago.

He kind of looks different, even though I immediately thought it was him. Then I thought it wasn't, until I saw Panthers on the jersey. I know he played for some British Nottingham Panthers team last year.

If I were looking to convert my Larsson Jersey to a Taylor Hall jersey, where would I go considering Meigray doesnt customize and the Devils Den issues lousy quality

Is everything sewn on or heat pressed on?

I used Dorholt for my Kovalchuk to Elias migration a few years ago. Mine was all sewn on though. Other people on here will also recommend Dorholt and you can scroll through the history here to see as well
