He's fallen off a cliff this season by all acounts. Don't think he would be a suitable addition.

You mean like the Cap game where the breakdowns were a bad decision and pass by Elliott, a bad pass by NAK who should have shot it in deep, a bad pass by Voracek into three Caps in front of the net then failing to get back to check Carlson who wasn't even skating hard? Of the 4 goals, only one was a bad play by a defenseman (Sanheim getting undressed by Dowd).

the defense hasnt played a good game against good teams at all, you are not going to win a cup with inexperienced d, i have seen it in the playoffs while in the bubble, the young d cant handle the pressure, that's why you need more experienced d that can handle the pressure. look at tampas d, they are experienced they can handle the pressure that's why they won the cup.

you are obsessed with the having young players all over the roster, it doesnt work like that, it's not college hockey, you need experience on the d.

if you want to wait until this team is completely out of the playoffs to do something? are you crazy or you dont want the flyers to make the playoffs.

That's one way to interpret the events of the one game..

Another way..

Goal 1: Starts with a poor pinch by Provorov. Couturier rotates back to cover for him and mishandled to Elliott. Elliott passes to Provorov who inexplicably tries to pass the puck out of the zone while spinning with his back to the blueline. He should have received that pass with control and then made a smarter play with the puck instead of a careless one.

Goal 2: Starts with a pass from NAK to Sanheim as he was backing out of the zone but instead of trying to hammer it deep or go back with it into a safe area, Sanheim is soft on the puck and turns it over to Sprong. Gustafsson didn't read it well so he was way too far to the right on the play and could not get back to mark Sheary, who busted up the middle, receives a pass from Sprong, and is on on a breakaway.

Goal 3: Pretty much 100% on Voracek. Awful turnover. Awful backcheck.

Goal 4: Nic f***ing Dowd embarasses Sanheim, cuts to the net and banks one in off of Ghosts skate.

I highlighted all of the times I mentioned a defensemen.

1) The pass to Provorov was not only a bad decision, but was off the boards, maybe Provorov should have turned with his back to Ovehckin to handle it, which reeally means pass it back to Couts, b/c Ovekchkin was on top of him and he'd be immediately checked. He tried to grab it off the bounce to knock it past Ovechkin, either way, tough play to make.

2) Sanheim was on the left point, NAK was only a few feet away, allowing Sprong to cover both players, Sanheim didn't even have time to dump it deep, and Gus was expecting a potential wrap around, not a bad decision by NAK.

NAK put the puck right on Sanheim's stick and he fecklessly played it to Sprong. That's what happened. No other way to interpret it. Provorov took a tough situation and made it worse. That's what happened. No other way to interpret it. Plays like these have been happening every game for weeks so using CF and ExGF to claim the defense is playing well when they repeatedly have breakdowns that result in goals is a disingenous use of analytics..which you frequently do.

How do we score our goals? Usually pressure leading to a mistake by an opposing defenseman.

All players make mistakes, advanced metrics give a sense of how often they make mistakes (HDCA is probably the best metric) - but we tend to only remember the ones that go into the net, which is partially a function of the goaltender.

HDCA/60
last 9 games:
Myers 16.06
Sanheim 12.02
Ghost 11.59
Hagg 9.97
Provorov 9.87
Braun 8.48
Gus 6.96

last 26 games of 2019-20:
Provorov 10.34
Myers 10.27
Sanheim 10.27
Braun 9.46
Niskanen 9.31
Hagg 9.03

Braun > Goligoski hands down.

Hagg??? Depends if the Hagg of the last nine games is a mirage.

We already have two undersized offensive minded LHDs who can play RHD but have some defensive questions, we need a third?

Why do you want someone as bad as Goligoski when you can pay good players you already have in the bank and prospects?

The price is gonna be high, but with some help there and there, this team can drag 1 or 2 very good players.

No guts , no glory

Rattcliff, Hogbert, Hagg, Frost, Zamula, Sanheim.
Some players have nhl experience that could help teams too.

If fletcher trade York for some bad veterans, i swear, im roothing for Arizona too including this team...and i just wait when the boat is sinking to get out silently.
