Wasn't he supposed to be a top defenseman? I don't see what's so great about him. We have better guys there now so he was expendable.

He was drafted 217th overall. The fact he even made the NHL is impressive. No one EVER said he was going to be a top defensman.

The Devils AHL teams have never cared about winning. All they care about is development. Really no reason to get mad at them for not winning

I know, but this team has too much talent to be shutout, or held to just a goal or two 75% of the time. If we didn't have all the NHL guys I would understand why the team was so bad. Think of where the team would be without them right now cause the leading scorers are the NHL guys.

I remember a lot of people being very high on him. Maybe not to the degree of David Hale, but he was kinda like the Barry Tallackson of defensive prospects for a few years there. The TG blog was constantly filled with comments calling for him to be brought up.

No, but at one time, he was our best defensive prospect, sadly. People overrated him for that very reason.

Yeah I remember that. Him, and Corrente, but I understand why Corrente was cause he was a first overall pick. He was like Barry Tallackson. I can't remember how many times people posted about how we should bring up Tallackson to play with Elias. It was like he could do anything, and play anywhere, and then we found out he wasn't for the NHL.

I really like Joe Whitney. I still expect Tedenby to get a spot before him though sadly.

After reading this again what do you mean by made the NHL? Made it to the draft? Or made it to playing? He's only played 7 NHL games, and they were in call up roles.

I'm pretty sure playing in 7 NHL games constitutes "making the NHL". Like I said he was a 7th round pick. If you're going to get mad at him for not panning out then you have ridiculous expectations

I never had expectations for him, just like I never had expectations for Tallackson. Corrente I kinda did cause he was a first rounder.

And what is up with Parse? Has he been a healthy scratch, or injured? This is his 8th game of the season, and first game in I can't remember how long. Why's he been on the PP so much?

LOL BUTLER AGAIN!

He's trolling the Sens!

And Parse gets an assist! Haha that was awesome after asking why he was getting so much PP time!

That was an ugly goal. Looked like it might have been a bad goal for Frazee to give up, but I really need to see it again.

This is a hilariously frustrating team to watch.

Who cares this team isn't supposed to win games!:sarcasm:

Seriously though it is. I didn't see last night, but my buddy watched, and told me they were up 4-1 with 2 minutes left, and Springfield scored, then got to within one with 30 seconds left with the extra attacker, and then hit the post with seconds left, and Albany barely snuck out with a win.

This team has only had one win streak all year, and it was the 5 game one. This team hasn't had two different winning streaks all year. I figured they'd lose in the shootout anyway.

On the other hand, the guys I want to be impressed by, the ones who should have NHL futures, I basically have been. Larsson and Josefson have both been terrific every shift I've watched. Pesonen has been good - not sure good enough for NHL good, but he and Josefson work well together, he's got good size and puck possession skills. Gelinas looks good, Urbom looks good. Butler, of course, looks good. And the goaltenders have both been solid.

Not surprised at the box score with Frazee only making 14 saves and getting outplayed again while his team should have won.

Is it time to bring Wedge up and send Frazee to Trenton?

He's 3-5-3 with a 2.15 GAA and a .918 SV%. Prior to this game, it was a 2.08 GAA and a .924 SV%.

Why don't you answer that yourself? Frazee has been playing very well, keeping Albany in games they had absolutely no business being in. The second goal was a redirection from the slot that beat him far side, the third one was a rebound that he had no chance on because a defender didn't tie up Silfverberg in front. He played well tonight, you can't expect him to save goals like that.

Absolutely not. The last goal kinda looked bad, but I have to see it again for a third time. Frazee has been very good even in the games we outshot the opposition, and still lost. He made a fantastic save on a breakaway before the game got out of control. I thought it went off the crossbar at first, but it didn't. It was just an incredible save. I'd love to see Wedgewood in Albany, but Frazee has proved he belongs this season so far. He has one of the better GAA, and save percentages in the league, but he hasn't played the amount of games Kinkaid has either.

And I agree with you CD. The NHL players have looked pretty good as have the goaltenders. The leaders in points on the team are Butler, Josefson, and Larsson. Joe Whitney has the highest PPG average. He led the team in points last year. I think they should definitely consider him for a spot with the NHL roster cause I'm still not satisfied with Tedenby. He's improved from last years nightmare in the NHL, but can he hack it in the NHL?

You can't expect Frazee to stop EVERYTHING(as much as we wish it). His GAA is great so I would balk at placing any blame on him.

Although, I wouldn't mind seeing Wedge in action once in awhile but I think Frazee and/or Kinkaid will be seeing more time in the future than Wedge.

Yeah Frazee has been pretty solid. I've been pleasantly surprised. Sometimes he looks even better than Kinkaid, but he hasn't played as much as Kinkaid has played. For a while in less games played Frazee had like 2 more wins than Kinkaid. This was back when Albany only had like 3 wins. Then Kinkaid was in net for the 5 game win streak.

Also, Larsson's skating looks noticeably improved. Hopefully I can recount the Springfield game tomorrow while I'm snowed in. I haven't had time to sit down at a computer lately.

Not to say his skating hasn't improved, but this is the AHL, it should be expected that he looks better

It's ok, he hates EVERYONE.

Hey that ain't true! I like some people. I like all of you guys on here!

No seriously though I don't hate Eckford. I don't like him at all either. It looked like he scored the goal at first, and of course in keeping with Devils tradition even in the AHL it's always a former Devil who scores! Even one who couldn't score an empty net penalty shot if given the chance when they played for us. Like David Steckel!
