I believe that it isn't necessarily first, maybe poor wording on my part, but initial contact or intended contact are more appropriate. He definitely intended to hit chest first which he did, and then as happens on many hits, they bounce off each other and the head gets contacted. This however is completely different to intentionally trying to hit someone in the head hits.

Principle does not equal initial, or planned. It means most meaning, impact, or the like.

I'm not the one who brought up that word in this thread. Principle point of contact is always mentioned in this type of threads, which is why posted it.

I do actually believe it might be this version of principal as opposed to principle:
