What are you talking about? He sucks, no way around it, and he's being paid like a good, solid 4th line. His PDO isn't getting better, he's not "not getting the bounces", he just can't shoot and doesn't play like a good grinder does. Everyone knows now he's just an anchor, it doesn't matter if he plays or not, or where he plays. Waive him and put him in the AHL, at least we can use those 900k then, look around the league, it's a contract for a decent depth forward now.

Yep, this. He's never getting ahead of all our wingers who're above him right now. I think the guy's going to the KHL after his contract ends.

It appears some stats support that he doesn't suck. He's overpaid but hey keep bringing it because nobody was aware of that dead horse fact.

so at what point do we throw draft pick(s) together with Laich for a bag of pucks ?

our 1st round pick could be #30 if we get rid of Laich :)

Most of us aren't ready to dump 1st. But didn't see arguing with 2nd or 3rd picks for that. It's even less than CGX's price, so not that much.

Btw, Tyutin was healthy scratch for 2nd time in a row. He's got 4,5M for 3 more years. Did anyone see what's wrong with him? Maybe they could flip Laich for him. Tyutin-Orlov could be a pair maybe. If only Tyutin is still good enough.

Obviously, Torts doesn't like something. Brooks Laich is here to help John. Just an idea.

4.5М is hell a lot for a 3rd pairing guy. It's even worse than Laich's deal.

I would rather waste 4.5M on a third pairing guy.

That being said, not sure I make that trade. Haven't watched Tyutin enough lately.

Who is Laich taking ice time away from? I'd much rather Schmidt get the ice time than Tyutin
Agreed. Laich still has some value as a PKer to the point where trading him for a marginal player without a particular specialty on a similar or worse contract doesn't necessarily make sense.

I'm not too keen on moving the first rounder unless it really helps position them for a run. It's early but it's looking like a deeper draft 15-30 compared to last year with a greater range of positional and stylistic variation.

Tyutin is a type we could look for at deadline anyway. Stronger and more experienced than Schmidt. I'd say more skilled easily but idk what's the deal with him now.

And he would play with Orlov. The only thing left to do will be to pick PK specialist for 1M or so. That's much more doable than to trade Laich for such player directly.

Yeah I've defended Mojo for his reliability and cheap contract, but he's kind of in the way. He's taking up a spot on the PP for Kuz and 2nd line for Bura.

They'd be wise to deal him for a vet 3rd liner.

1) it's good BuraKuz have somebody to overplay for roster position

2) we're 8-2 with Mojo this season

No way to Tyutin for three years. Bowey is looking good and near ready for the NHL.

I don't think Laich is playing terrible. Theyre stuck with him.

We already have an aging defenseman signed at $5.5M for term. No interest in adding Tyutin on top of that.

Hell, if things don't turn around for him, Orpik is the 3LD and they need a 1LD.

Johansson has 6 points in 10 games, 5 coming at even strength. He's playing well, including in terms of being physically engaged. Not sure what reason they would have to move him is.

Team is 8-2. We've seen them very good and very bad and that's their record. I'm not feeling like outside roster moves are an immediate need.

Is he? Hadn't heard that he's near NHL ready. Unless by near you mean 2 years...(including this IMO)...

GMBM should plan in advance obviously. Right now there isn't any Laich trade possibility most probably. But he has to think about it.

So why wouldn't we guess such a move?

I could be wrong, but doesn't Laich have a NTC?
