Torts is making them worse than a team you thought was in contention for last in the league even *before* Couturier & Atkinson missed every game & JVR is out for 6 weeks?

Puh-lease.

You don’t like Torts so you’re just finding reasons to complain about him.

Yeah actually this is worse than I expected, and I expected it to be quite bad.

All the injuries to the top forwards are annoying, but the JVR injury leading to Bellows getting claimed was extra lame. You could actually have a reasonable top 9 with James healthy, even without Cam and Sean.

Farabee-Hayes-TK
JVR-Laughton-Tippett
Cates-Frost-Allison
Deslauriers-Sedlak-Laczynski/MacEwen

They are 3 Hart stolen games from last in the NHL.
Being out chanced 3 to 1 every game.
Never possess the puck

What games are you watching ?

Torts comes to CBJ, Bob goes from .918 and .908 to .931, .921, .913, then to Florida, .900, .906, .913.

Torts comes to NY, Lundvist goes from .917, .912 to .916, .921, .923, .930, .926

Torts comes to PHL, Hart is revived.

Maybe the play of his teams makes life easier on goalies?

The emphasis on back checking and clearing the crease may mean less dangerous rebounds and less time for odd man rushes to make plays.

They’re a below-average team to begin with, & are playing without their best player/#1C (Couturier); their top point getter from last yr (Atkinson); & top goal scorer from last yr (JVR).

And they’re facing a brutal schedule.

And Torts has been the coach for all of 9 games.

What do you expect?

It’s ridiculous to judge them as if they should be playing even with the best teams in the league.

Of course they need their goalie to be great in order to win.

They struggled to carry the play against Tampa, Florida, & the Rangers? What an inexcusable shock!

Bellows seems like a complete non entity.

TK has 9 more shots than anyone else on the team. :teach:
god forbid he has one missed shot in ot or tries to create a play instead of shooting the puck on the net lol. He is one of the few skilled players we have and he actually is getting shat on for it, wow.

Goalies aren't typically revived by the team in front of them getting methodically and enthusiastically disemboweled by their opponents.

I think you're overly desperate to find some way that Tortorella is succeeding, and this is a massive stretch.

Over reacting to the 5-2-2 record is as stupid as overreacting to bad metrics. Neither mean much, because this season doesn't mean much.
That's the biggest load of horseshit right there. Games at the beginning of the season mean just as much as games at the end of the season. How many times have the Flyers played themselves out of a good playoff position because they had a terrible start to the season? Or how about if the season is going to be terrible, why not run the young horses early in the season to see what they bring to the table?

No, this is just more of the same old, same old from the Flyers organization. They believe that they're a parody caliber team, they play the old guard as much as possible and then when shit goes sidewards, they think it's something they can pull out of and when they don't, it's too late to sell off assets because they were chasing an imaginary playoff spot that they were never going to get and they end up getting pennies on the dollar for said assets. That's how the Flyers operate and Tortorella has bought it hook, line and sinker.

Too bad as well because I really believed that Tortorella would have been the one guy who would have called this bullshit out and create change within the organization, but its clear he's along for the ride with the rest of the dinosaurs.

NO GAMES MEAN ANYTHING THIS SEASON.

What matters is how they play the game, and how they improve during the season.
What old guard? Hayes (30), Deslauriers (31) [8 minutes at ES], Sedlak (29), Laughton (28)
On defense, TDA (27), Provorov (26), Sanheim (26), Risto (28), Seeler (29)/Zamula (22). Braun (35).

So Lacznynski (25), MacEwen (26), Bellows (24) are fighting it out for two spots until JVR returns.

MacEwen and Bellows shouldn't be fighting for any spot. Bellows shouldn't be here.
