There is more than scoring, and how you score matters, even mediocre scorers can get 20 points a year on PP1.
Most of the game is played at ES (especially 3rd periods and playoffs when refs swallow their whistles), most SC winning teams (other than the Pens) were mediocre PP teams, they excelled at 5x5, and that was their focus.
Giroux and Voracek are not top 5x5 players this year (Voracek was 2nd line quality last year) and probably won't be going forward, Couts is still recovering from his knee but his lack of speed limits him, needs fast wings to compensate. The idea that this core could ever carry us to a Cup should have been put to rest after the last three playoff series.
The game is faster, and you need a 1st line that can keep up with the top young lines, whether Toronto, TB, NJ or the Avs.
