- QUOTES -

JON COOPER:
"We just have to see how this plays out. I don't think you can sit there and say who is going to be the backup here, or who is going to be the third guy? You have to sit and look at it big picture, we've got one goaltender injured, another one coming off injury. We're one more injury away from having nobody back there. There's nothing wrong with having depth."

BEN BISHOP:
"I'm good to go... I know with Vasy not being out there, there might be a chance you play all the games. Nothing wrong with that for me."

KEVIN POULIN:
"I’m just going to come here, battle for a spot and just give the team a chance to win every time I play."

"I was actually really, really excited. I was really happy. I know Tampa’s a great organization, and I was actually really relieved to be picked up on waivers."

I'm genuinely curious as to why Marchessault and Point have decided to keep with their camp numbers for this long, especially Machessault since he stands a nice chance at making the team.

At the very least let Point wear #19 like he does in Moose Jaw. It would keep with the Lightning's tradition (well, with the exception of Moore, Crombeen and Veilleux) of #19 belonging to a great player.

Marchessault will need to clear waivers to be cut. My only guess is we're keeping Point around until Paquette's ready to go.

Looks like we'll see something close to a final lineup tomorrow though. That top-9 is drool-worthy.

Any chance KoekKoek steals a LD spot and Carle "mentors" him from the rightside? Seems to be having a solid defensive game so far, I'd take that over liabilities like Sustr and Nesterov.

Koekkoek-Carle.

May as well play him for a couple of the 8 or 9 games allowed until you can send a prospect back down. There's absolutely no harm in it and Point knows that at this stage of his career that he's 19, the Lightning are stacked and he could be as great as he wants but we'd still have no room for him. If Patch is hurt for a few weeks then I hope we give Point a serious look.

Wouldn't want to lose someone on waivers for it though. We're already probably going to lose someone as soon as we're healthy.

Koekkoek-Carle.

I'd consider Carle a lot bigger liability than Nesterov. Least nesta can actually bring something to the table it seems like.

Koekkoek-Carle.

Of particular note are the quotes around the word mentors. Carle playing the right side is a very good example of what not to do as an NHL defenseman. So I guess it could work.

Crosby is not even playing despite being on the ticket? For shame.

I am sure a stream will be found. There are a few sites that can be counted on for that. ;)

Really, really hoping we see that top-9 tonight.

Well Paquette is likely a no go this game, so the odds are pretty good for that, but Coop might change things up since it is pre-season. I think at this point we know our lines for opening day and this is just the time to get some chemistry going and get everyone going.

Other than the top-6 the rest are different so I don't knows which one we'll see tonight:

Very interesting 4th/3rd line.

What's Point's shot like? Anyone seen him enough?

I was just going by what Days had posted in the OP.

Crosby Malkin and Kessel did not play last night, so there is a good chance they do play tonight.
Here's the list. I would have thought you'd have to use your marquee players for an event like this, but I guess not.

I guess with three games in three days you got to rest someone but, I agree with Days play the big guys tonight on TV. They had yesterday off and can have tomorrow off too if you are worried about fatigue.

I think you've been able to watch all of Pens preseason games on TV though, at least the few times I've checked they seem to have been on so I don't think it's the same for us where this is the only TV broadcasted game. But I would have thought that the NHL would want most of the players playing but I guess with 3 games in 3 days that the NHL hadn't fully planned this one out.
