Just for the sake of showing off the pretty uniform some more. :)

Who do you think is going to do the job? It's not Getzlaf - they're giving him easier and fewer minutes. It's not Rakell - he's 8 years old. It's not Thompson - he's not an elite defensive player and a shutdown center is going to need to play more than 10-12 minutes a night.

I think he didn't mean to say that they are not the ones that will be the first asked to shut another team down, I think he meant it more in the sense that they'll be a line that exceeds the defensive duties of a pure shutdown line and actually contribute a fair amount offensively, too.

In the shoot out. Which in regular season would still be a point in the standings. It's OK, guys.

Yes, a shootout loss cannot be looked at from an analysis perspective as a real loss, neither can a shootout win as a real win. It is a gimmick designed to get rid of ties. A necessary evil, mind you. But not something to hang your hat on.

You could be right. I can't really tell without going back and reading the whole exchange that I butted in on.

Kesler is an absolute beast. He's going to make this team much better.

Strong outings from jackman, Maroon, Etem, and rakell. Karlsson had an awful game.

First chance Murray gets he's gotta dump Allen. He's worse than Fistric at this point.
Put KP in for Silfverberg and start the regular season

Heatley-Getzlaf-Perry
Maroon-Kesler-KP
Silfverberg-Rakell-Cogs
DSP-Thompson-Beleskey

I think that'll be our opening day lineup.
That's the exact lineup I guessed

I would look for Cogliano to identify any consistent "shutdown line" this current roster has.

Not that he'll play in the middle, just that he's the closest thing we have as a specialist.

I'd think that if Boudreau wants to use Kesler's line in that role, he'll put Cogs with him.

Just re-watched the game at work this morning...whats up with Vatanen's skating? He fell down 2 times for no reason and looked like he was taking chunks out of the ice out when he was accelerating. Maybe just a bad game.

Two things that jumped out at me last night:

1) Gibson needs to screw his head on straight. His reflexes look awful.

2) Stoner can handle the puck! He's a way better skating Bryan Allen with some hands. I was surprised by that.

I actually thought silf looked solid, he was making great defensive plays, his hands looked good and he got a few solid shots off. I actually really like that whole line and hope they stay together.

Vatanen, karlsson, dsp, Allen, Gibson were the ones who stood out on the negative side to me. Rakell, etem, lindholm, kesler line were the best to me

kesler is not good in the shootout. hes just a good player. similar to getz nperry before somehow they magically figured it out. lol

which once again makes me miss bones. damn he was good int he SO

In regular games, we will most likely have Getzlaf, Perry, Sniperberg, Palms, Maybe Etem, Rakell, Maroon (showed some nice hands). Definitely not as deep as last year, but still have a ton of talent for shootouts.

Bruce has said before that he likes ''pairs'' for forwards so after he can just switch one if something`s not clicking. If that means anything - Rakell seems to play well with Cogs ;)

But for hard situations i`d trust Cogliano-Kesler-Silfverberg first. Will be interesting.

According to a Kings poster, Heatley, Kesler, and Gibson were garbage, and the entire team was afraid of Clifford, Nolan, or Andreoff...

Is the side effect of the LA smog reduced airflow to the brain...?

I honestly think most of them don't even really watch the games and they certainly don't understand how it's played. My wife's family is full of Kings fans and they don't know the first thing about hockey. They're the guys in the Crowd yelling "shoot" and "hit him" the entire game. Of course some of them just stared watching hockey in June so I guess I can't blame them.

It's sad because I don't think all kings fans are like that. One of my brothers in law has been a diehard kings fan for 30+ years. He hates the Ducks but recognizes good hockey and we talk hockey all the time. My other brother in law went to his first hockey game in the western conference finals last season. The die hard brother had 2 tickets and his wife couldn't go because of work. Ever since then my fair weather brother in law has been telling me how the Ducks suck and all their players can barely skate and the franchise should be contracted.

I've found over the years the loudest most obnoxious fans are usually the band wagoners who have never watched hockey in their life until the Stanley Cup Finals. I know it's true for every fan base but I think it's worse at this current time because the Kings are good.

Isn't everyone afraid of being sucker punched by Nolan after the whistle? The only way he knows how to fight is to jump into the scrum after refs have people tied up and start throwing punches.
