He's playing for an AHL spot. Don't get me wrong, he's taken a step forward over the summer, but going from ECHL to NHL in one summer is quite the step.

The lineup tonight is interesting. Volkov with Cirelli and Joseph could be an audition for a new 3rd line. The rest of the forwards, besides Gourde, seem to be guys that all could be the 12th or 13th forward. So it should be a nice showcase for all of them. On D I used to think Masin-Cernak could be a good 3rd pair in the future, before Cernak took a huge step, I could still see it as a strong defensive 3rd pair top PK. The other two pairs look like they could be trying guys out who might play together in Syracuse.

I’ve never really paid attention during preseason before. What do you mean “3rd out of 4”? Can they only play 4 preseason games?

I think he ended up with credit for 3 SOG. Seemed more confident and at least trying in the neutral & o zones but still got somewhat confused on occasion in the d zone.

Heddy was also one of the ones that I saw as just okay too. But we all know he'll turn into our Viking god of dmen eventually.

Schenn's skating looks average. Which is actually way better than I'd been expecting.
