This has been the most I have ever enjoyed watching a round of golf played by Patrick Reed.
I very much dislike Patrick Reed.
Knew it.

There's a lot I dislike about Bryson, but one if the most annoying things is that his initials are "B.A.D." and that he monogrammed his scorecard jacket with it so you see it on almost every shot. :shakehead
He gets a lot of hate, not sure why people don't like him.

Isn't that pretty much exactly what you would expect from a Rolling Stone list?

You really shouldn't be able to put Greatest Hits albums on such a thing, though.

Yes, and of course you're right about GH. They even put "Legend" on there, and then another Bob Marley record lol. I didn't mind that as much as having

ALANIS F***ING MORISSETTE 91 PLACES HIGHER THAN THE HIGHEST POLICE ALBUM!!!

It's sort of consensus at this point, but someone is going to have to explain to me how we've arrived at people agreeing that the first mainstream Hole album was great. It's borderline top 100 here and I'm baffled.

That reminds me of something I keep meaning to post, but don't think I have before. I have been thinking about this since around 1997, when I got the following album.

Rosy_Jack_World.jpg

Blake Babies was Juliana Hatfield's first band, and they were awesome. That album (EP really, I guess) came out in June of 1991, and contains the song "Nirvana," which rules, but is very dark. Here are the lyrics:

"I shut the windows and close the store,
I lay down on the bathroom floor, everyone I know is a bore
I'm starting to think that everything stinks
That I could really use a drink
Then I got up and hit my head on the sink

Father father father father, do you call
Father father father, should I end it all

Now, here comes the song I love so much
Makes me want to go f*** s*** up
Now, I got Nirvana in my head, I'm so glad I'm not dead

I slam my hand in the car door
I scream till I could scream no more
Bloody and mean and rotten to the core

Father father father father, do you call
Satan Satan Satan, should I end it all

You try to get off the ground
But you always end up coming down
When the sound comes around and goes in your ears
You can do anything you have no fears
When that sound comes around and goes in my ears
I can do anything I have no fears

Now, here comes the song I love so much
Makes me want to go f*** s*** up
I got Nirvana in my head
I'm so glad I'm not dead

Here comes the song, I love it so much
Makes me want to go f*** s*** up
Now, I got Nirvana in my head
I'm so glad I'm not dead"

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" was on "Nevermind," which was released in September of 1991. Kurt passed in 1994.

I broke one stick in my life and it was by showing off the flex in the locker room.
I only play once a week (well, no times a week during Covid), but the last stick I broke was by smashing it on the post after I missed coverage that allowed a game winning goal in the last minute of the game... that was over 3 years ago.

There was a really popular hockey store in a Vancouver suburb that burned down a few years ago. They ended up salvaging a lot of their inventory and had a "fire sale" with ridiculous mark downs on things like sticks. I bought 10 sticks for about $300. Those sticks normally cost $200 each.

Should last me the rest of my playing career.

I typically buy in the 80-100 dollar range from hockey monkey or if I need it ASAP then I get it from local pro shop and get the cheapest composite they have.

For a while I was playing on 3 teams full time and one team part time, plus stick and puck. I was on the ice probably 4 days a week.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty hard on the sticks to...I’ve broken a few on face offs, a few on the shitty boards at the rink I used to play at full time.... gaps between the boards and ice. Also I have a habit of beaver tailing to call for the puck.

Favorite stick is the Sherwood t-90 100 flex Bobby Ryan curve

How did you do the top? Paint the logo and put a sheet of plexi on top?

Plywood, distressed, painted, resin. The resin was left to dry overnight and two moths got stuck and died in it. Had to pick them out and use a grinder to distress even more, looks like ice effect kind of.

I hadn't realized that it's become consensus, which goes to show how much music press I read these days, I guess. Still, it's a damn good album going off of memory, which incidentally just came up in the music thread. Not so good that I've actually listened to it in a decade or two, however, and it's certainly nowhere near top 100 though all time though. Maybe top 100 of the 90's?

I stumbled across The Jesus Rolls the other day. It has to be one of the most bizarrely conceived films ever made. Both a spin-off and a remake of two completely unrelated cult films, with John Turturro building a whole movie around a minor if memorable character, and Audrey Tautou (Mlle Amelie Poulain!) in a supporting roll as a nymphomaniac with the hots for Pete Davidson. Somehow both completely unwatchable and eminently watchable.
