That penalty is typical of our luck in this one. Winnable game, too many posts hit and not enough in the back of the net.

Apparently going into slump is the equivalent of the sky falling.

People are just nervous because it's a pre-Playoffs slump. People were really high on the Wings and this season the path to the cup seems to be a little more open than it normally is.

Detroit plays Carolina twice more this season and Arizona once, they also face Ottawa and Boston once more.

If Ottawa only loses two more games this season then they deserve to go to the playoffs.

So you're banking on wins against Carolina when we cant beat non-playoff teams like Philly, Columbus and Florida?

At least we've looked good and collected some loser points while dropping games to bad teams.

Wonder if the wings are slumping because theyre looking ahead to the playoffs--and dreading them because last years playoffs were such a harsh let down

It's no secret the Wings have been rebuilding the last few seasons. Even Holland, Nill, and Babcock have said so numerous times. You don't have to tank to rebuild...that seems to be a common misconcepetion around this message board.

"penalty coming to florida"

oh hey, maybe we have a chance!

"oh wait, it's on detroit."

yep, that's about right. this team is awful right now. hopefully it's the end of a long phase shortly.

We very likely lose tonight anyway, but both those calls were whoppers.

Refs with the play of the game. Wings get slew footed and Florida gets a power play from the trip trip.

Great. And look where they are now. Just because the Red Wings haven't been contenders the last few seasons doesn't mean they can't in the near future and that they are doomed to never be great again. That's the problem with the way you are thinking.

Teams go through ups and downs (over multiple seasons AND within a season as we are seeing now). The Red Wings have been down the last few seasons while they rebuild and integrate new and young players into the system. They are finally starting to see the return on those young players which is why they have been better this season. They have even better prospects than Tatar and Nyquist on the way still too.

As someone else mentioned, step off the ledge. The world isn't ending because the Devils made the finals 3 seasons ago and the Wings haven't.

Now you are changing the subject. Just because the Devils aren't contender now, doesn't mean they can't be in the future. See, I can play that game too.

The fact is the Devils have been better recently because they almost won a cup. They were one of the best teams in the league. We have been ~10th the last few years, squeaking in as a bottom seed.

Seems like a lot of people here want to be Tampa Bay Lighting fans. Go ahead. I'm sure there's plenty of room over there.
