Alright. So, MDZ has 5.07 GFON/60, and 6.33 GAON/60.

Luke...with MDZ as his partner: 2.11 GFON/60, 7.02 GAON/60.

MDZ, as some have noticed, knows what he's doing when his team has the puck and is lost when his team doesn't have the puck. But holy ****, looking at Schenn's D stats it's hard to believe he isn't also dragging MDZ down a bit as well. With that pairing it's hard to tell who's hindering who. They're drawing the easier matchups, too. But looking at the stats, it's hard to say that MDZ wouldn't do better with a different partner. Luke is a trainwreck. He doesn't work with MDZ, and if Luke isn't with his perfect partner he's just horrible.

Schenn did well with AMac but that was deceiving since the stats showed that the both of them got the most favorable matchups among the pairings last season when AMac came aboard..especially against the Rangers.

It just shows that when you lose two big minute defenders with no real viable replacements you screw up everything. You can't manage the minutes of some of your weaker links which we have too many of. In Luke's case not only is he a weak link...he is the missing link from the evolutionary chart.....

Luke was fine with Gus or MacDonald, and genuinely good with Kimmo.

Are those just even strength? If not, the disparity is pretty easily explained.

In the past two seasons, there have been two guys who Schenn was genuinely bad with. MDZ, on the other hand, has been basically been poor regardless of who he's paired with.

He was given a qualifying offer a few months ago, so yes, the Flyers retain his NHL rights.

I've never been hard on L. Schenn, but he's a joke. Ugh. Gotta love all the Mason apologism, too.

But whatever, I didn't think the game was as bad as the score would suggest.
