I’m really interested who we’d take with the number 3 pick. Our scouts must’ve seen a ton of Rossi with all our 67’s. Stützle looks like a money player too.

For me, top three is laf, byfield, stutzle. We get a top 3 pick, I want it to be one of them

Would you rather:

Pick 6 / 7 & 10/11

Or

Win the lotto and get a top 3 pick, but Arizona also wins the lotto and gets into the top three, resulting in us losing their pick for this year and kicking it to next year

Any top 3 pick and Arizona next year is better than any reasonable combo without a top 3 pick.

Phrasing, of course. ;)

When I went to the draft last year, the NHL had a film crew out waiting for the prospects to show up. They were probably killing time, so the interviewer asked me Hughes or Kakko. Unfortunately my spontaneous answer branched into something like "Kakko is more physically mature, whereas Hughes is still growing into his body so there might be some more theoretical upside." As soon as the camera cut, I lamented "Hopefully talking about an 18 year old kid growing into his body didn't come off super creepy." That drew a laugh from the interviewer and mercifully they didn't use any of that for their eventual YouTube video.

Moving up would be great, I just don't want to move down.

Odds are that we move down one spot, I think. I think the most likely spot we choose from is #7 by percentages.

That being said, I don't think we have ever picked number 7, so 6, 8 or top 3 it is ! lol

Let’s go Devils at 1 and Ottawa at 2 and 3.

The tension after commercial break. Odds are heavy Ottawa is #1 now. We reveal #3, it’s Ottawa; Ottawa is still the favorite for #1 but it’s closer. We reveal #1 and it’s the Devils: Ottawa got beat twice with the odds in their favor right at the end.

Why can't we win the lotto, get a top 3 pick, AND Arizona does NOT win the lotto and stays put? :badidea:

Fortunately, the interviewer is a Professional and knew what you meant.

Any other Joe-Shmoe off the street however would've sent their minds in the gutter.

Actually, if the Devils got #1 and Ottawa got #2 and #3, It would be safe to say that BOTH franchises won the draft.

We get Lafreniere and they got most likely Byfield *and* Stutzle.

If we pull the 1OA, the servers will crash within 10 seconds. Take it to the bank. I'll take a server crash. :naughty::laugh:

I want as many top 10 picks as possible. TBH I rather get picks 6 and 10

What happens if this Lafreniere kid, ultimately ends up being an underwhelming first overall it busting all together.

If we are in a spot where we can get Dysdale/Holtz at 6 and Sanderson/Quinn at 10 - I would be over the moon

^ Then we might as well not participate in the draft if we're worrying about whether a draft pick busts or not.

The same logic can be used for Drysdale and Holtz : "What happens if THEY bust?"

See what I'm saying?

You need to not second-guess yourself.

Make the draft choice and let the chips fall where they may.

My body isnt ready

As long as it isnt 2019’s lottery at the start again though I think Ill be alright. I had said for two years the Rags would get Jack because hed always worn their colors and to spite me (I followed him since he was 16). When they got into the top-3 ahead of us I was on the verge of an aneurism. Then we bumped up and I said ‘were gonna lose Jack to the Rags by 1-2 spots, this cant get any worse’

It managed to workout but my goodness I was a wreck until that last card flip

so basically we want Buffalo #7 to be the first card flipped tonight or else something happened

Yes. Although if the flips start at #9 with Buffalo, things are still great as long as the Devils don’t flip at #8. Same with if they start at 8.

The flips starting at 7, for me, will be relief in knowing the Devils will be drafting with the third tier of prospects still available to them.

I know we all want 3 firsts this year, but if the ARZ/VAN picks slide to next year unprotected, that isn't the worst thing

Its not like those teams are world beaters

I don't think it matters much with Vancouver, they'll probably be around the same range next year. Arizona I'd probably rather have next year's pick but it's far less likely we'd be able to boot it till next year. They'd have to lose their play-in series and somehow win 'both' lotteries.
