We will never see that Ghost again. I watched that championship game, before he was injured Ghost was special.

Since his injury, he's smarter and more disciplined but lacks that special quality that opened up the ice for him in college and as a rookie.

He had 65 points last year. What was you expectation.......Bobby Orr?

College =\= NHL.

Ghost's 11 minutes look like an aberration, rather than a trend.

Shayne Gostisbehere Stats and News

9 of his last 20 GS have been under 20 minutes in TOI.

When you consider that ~1/3 of that time is on the PP, that’s ~14-15 minutes averaged in 5v5 situations. That’s f***ing unacceptable

It’s been a pretty clear trend that Gostisbehere is scapegoated and undervalued.

Off his rookie season? Pretty close!
Ghost in college and as a rookie was an explosive smurf, he was leaving guys searching for their jocks all over the ice.
Last year he was more efficient, but the "thrill was gone."
This year I think the league has realized that and tries to pressure him, using the Pens' playoff blueprint.

And yet he's actually been solid in the corners and hasn't taken a beating, so that theory of yours isn't working out.

Hagg with Gudas has been horrendous, awful combination.
MacDonald has been a solid 3rd pair D-man since he came back to the lineup. Nothing special, but not a liability.
Sometimes people get stuck on a script and ignore reality.

People can be forgiven if they're still scarred from 5 years of really bad play. But yes, MacDonald has finally played at the level of "well if he wasn't paid so much it wouldn't be so bad." It also helps that he's not getting the same TOI as he did under Hakstol.

He still needs to go, but Hagg needs to go faster.
