Oh boy. I just noticed that there's a "Gostisbehere Embellishment" thread on the mainboards, can only imagine what's being posted in there.
Basically a parade of self-righteousness, as if the majority of the league isn't embellishing penalties when given the opportunity.

Ghost will get fined, as he should, but then life will move on.

That's about as baffling as Berube's desperate need to get Rinaldo on the ice immediately after a PK, even if he had to change lines to do it.

Hexy loves it. Get those high ticket guys he traded for and the guy he gave a 4 yr deal some big ice time !!!!

About the shootout discussion:

It doesn´t make a difference which players are being chosen. Even most of our top forwards have been bad in this for years. I agree though that Nolan Patrick should be a TOP 3 shooter for some games. Probably the next SO will occur very soon...
I don't have a problem with Voracek getting regular caps for the shootout but theyre should be no reason why Giroux isn't almost always in that first group.

G, Jake, TK (who will be good there eventually), Patrick, Simmonds, Couts, Weal, then Ghost, and then Laughton should be the floating order

He literally just wants to get a point out of every game. Every game I see Boston winning 5-2 because they have killer instinct. The best time to score is after you just scored. They got close after the first one but no go. You need Hak to play to win and you need players that can do that. You come back with Lehtera and amac, that’s the opposite of killer instincts.

Oh come on, Boston is also a lot deeper than the Flyers, and not exhausted.
You could see the impact of fatigue, when have Provorov and Couts combined for such a bad game?
Couts especially was a step slow all night.

I'm happy they got the point, if Giroux shoots instead of passing in OT, they might have two points.
Given they just got back off a West Coast trip and the 3rd game in 4 nights, and Neuvirth playing the first 2 periods like dog crap, not bad.

Boston team d is way better starting at the top. Our team lacks allot that's why hexy doesn't do much besides trade if the team. Simmonds is terrible in his own zone and is time to move on hopefully.

Guys - who else loved Lehtera's goal celebration (even though it didn't touch his stick)? Guy is so unfamiliar with what it feels like to have a puck hit his stick, he didn't know if that was it.

The flyers are not always tired. They always play for the OT point.

Good teams don’t hang on they go for it. You are obviously likely to be a good team with good players, but good teams that don’t go for it don’t win as much. Take the Pens from a few years ago. The opposite is true for bad teams that go for it like Vegas.

Boston is a better team than us now, but not that much better than the best team we can be this year. Again speaks to not going for it. I can sone what reason the not going for it this year, but not at all in a one goal game against a team that knows it needs to win and ideally in regulation to get footing in the playoffs. They are going to bring everything.

Just ask the super bowl champion Eagles- Hungry dogs run faster.

Best part of the game was sending Manning out there with Ghost when Wood was on the ice. In case you were wondering if Hextall would take away Manning from Hakstol, its not happening

Let's just save time and cover all main board hot taeks of the Flyers:

-Patrick is a bust
-Ghost is a PP specialist, rookie year was a fluke.
-Giroux and Jake are over the hill and no one wants them
-Provorov can't hold Werenski and Slavin's jock straps
-Gudas is a worthless goon, should be banned from the league
-Fans are neanderthals (#SnowballsAtSanta- never mind the fact that this was the Eagles)
-Whole team is a goon squad because they were mean forty-five years ago
-#LosersSince75
-Goalie graveyard (okay, maybe not entirely untrue)
-Couturier is a fluke, he'll be a 3C again next year

There's probably more but I feel like this is a decent enough outline.

Because with Neuvirth imitating a traffic cone, they were lucky not to get blown out.

It's a long season, they got 2 points in Vegas they probably shouldn't have, and only gave Jersey 1 point on them in a game with a goalie playing bad and the rest of the team with dead legs.

Now if they struggle like this in Columbus, that's a different matter.

After Goals For, Hakstol came back with:

  1. Lehtera / Filppula / Weise / Hagg / MacDonald
  2. Lehtera / Filppula / Weise / Manning / Gudas
  3. Giroux / Couturier / Konecny / Provorov / Gostisbehere (Then the Filppula line again after 30 seconds)
  4. Lehtera / Filppula / Weise / Provorov / MacDonald
Well, to be fair, it's not like they are going to be on ice when many Goals For actually occur, and they gotta get their veteran "guaranteed ice time (r)".

you cannot be mad about the shootout order. it never should of gotten to that point. playing conservative with the lead in the 3rd period sucks. but it is also nice to get a save from your goaltender. you score 4 goals and have a 2 goal lead in the 2nd period you put that game away. blame all around for last night.

As previously stated, Neuvy needed to be bigger and better. I thought they played a good game, arguably better than the Devils, but there were some coverage issues on goals and some blunders by Neuvy in net.

I also noticed how seemingly far back Neuvy played in the shootout. Why? Get big, man!

In the end, 1 point is more than 0, and we are still plugging and chugging well on our way to a playoff appearance. Patrick should have been a shooter after winning us a shootout the other day.

when was the last time Rask game up 4 goals? they have a top goaltender. the Flyers dont.

Even Khudobin’s having a really good season as a backup. So it’s not all just goaltending/Rask. The two of them have been underwhelming to degrees in recent seasons coming into this year.

Boston has a better overall team & a better coach than the Flyers too.
