Great win boys!!! We looked like garbage 7 minutes in but completely woke up and dominated this game!

Great way to end the year, I have ZERO complaints on anyone, I think everyone had a great game.

So, from Duguay's explanation of the rule, the refs look at what the intention is. That is, they saw that St. Louis was trying to kick the puck up to himself, and not trying to kick it into the net, and allowed it.

Time to look up that rule again, but that interpretation makes way more sense than what Joe said.
