Has to be the Tkachuks right? I take Keith over papa Ny, and Alex would be dragging down that trio as well. Will vs. Matt is a good debate, but regardless of who comes out on top there they can't make up for the other comparisons.

How is this even an option? Michael Nylander was a slightly above average NHLer while Keith Tkachuk was one the great power forwards of his generation. William is the only great Nylander.

Guy who doesn’t score or assist as much and is pretty likely to leave his team short handed isn’t better than the guy who’s dramatically more skilled in virtually every aspect of the game.

Tkachuk makes it close with intangibles, but if you’re building a team from scratch, you go with Nylander over Matty. Tkachuk is more of a finishing piece, not a cornerstone.

Just to clarify you’re saying Chucky is likely to leave team short handed?

Points wise they are very similar FYi

Nylander can break out bigtime. Took 4 seasons for mckinnon to break out
Sure he could break out.
But just because Mac did doesn’t mean that Nylander will. Let’s wait until he gets anywhere close to Mac before making those kinds of comparisons.
Right now he’s shown that he can put up 61 points playing winger with Matthews. While I have no doubt he will improve, calling him a great player right now or predicting a MacKinnon type season in his future seems a little optimistic.

Yes. And he’s ahead of the Sedins as well who both won Art Rosses. It doesn’t follow that he’ll put up anyhere close to Mac either.
He’s a 61 point player with potential to improve and likely will improve.
But you can’t just compare players at the same age and say one will progress the same as the other. MacKinnon actually had a pretty unusual progression. It doesn’t mean Nylander or any other young player will see a similar massive jump in points and level of play.

The only comparison that’s close is Matt/Willy and I can get behind arguments for Matt there so this is not close.
