In general yes but last night the penalties can't be blamed on the Hakshell. Simmonds, ghost selfish, Laughton's was dumb and in the offensive zone which causes Raffl to get penalized cause they are on the kill.Hakstol decided that maintaining and driving possession wasn't so important. You take fewer penalties when you have the puck instead of the other team.
I guess he isn't going to get blocked since he and Jake are buddies
actually they killed 4 penalties. One which overlapped by a few sec. so just less than 8 mins of that period. Less than half. But more than a third. The last 2 mins they were at 6v5 where they played a passive system. Don’t look at that the same as a pk. Abuse less ice space. And no goalie. Had they pressured and gained control. Highly likely the score a empty netter But during their 5v5 play they dumped and didn’t chase. They changed lines. They start that at the beginning of the period. Hak benched a bunch of players and blamed the pk for loosing his bench. Hak deployments were as panicked as some players on the ice. They literally played more than half of the 3rd period a man short. Of course the opponent is going to dominate possession & shots — it would be the same for every team in the league.
Now, if you want to bash them for being overly passive on the 6-on-5s — absolutely. But for most of the period, you can thank Simmonds & Gost for terrible lack of discipline, & Laughton & Raffl for interference, for forcing the Flyers to have the ice tilted against them.
I said they played more than half the period “a man short.” They did.Actually

Yeah, I didn’t watch the game but ****s stupid. By the sounds of it, there was a laundry list of bigger mistakes than that
Never mind that in 3-on-3 OT it’s not uncommon for one player to play high in the zone for when they regain possession.
As mandated by Hakstol.
Of course, no one wants to mention the first line being dominated.
Giroux 39.13 Corsi, SCF/CA 2/8, HDCF/CA 2/5
TK 38.10 Corsi, SCF/CA 2/8, HDCF/CA 2/5
JVR 33.3 Corsi, SCF/CA 2/8, HDCF/CA 2/5
i would trade farmer andy for him right now.
I have suite tickets for the Bruins game in January.
Not only do I want him gone by then, I want him personally serving me food.
Bigger than leaving a player alone in front of your net when playing 3 on 3?
No.
Pretty disingenuous description of what actually happened. TK is the first one back and has to step up on Gaudreau on his first shot. Gaudreau is always going to be him (or any defender) to the rebound. Meanwhile Provy just stops skating in once he crosses the blue line, then goes to Monahan, who is already covered by Couts.. I don't like TK's reaction after Gaudreau moves past him, but it's not like he just decided not to play defense during that phase of play.
Uhhh, that’s exactly what he did, “decided not to play defense”.
Konecny is moving away from his own net when the goal is scored.
But upon further review, Provorov acts inexplicably.
