You don't lose a game 9-0 because the defenseman just suck. There's a structural problem here. You just refuse to see it.

SO all you bright hockey minds.... tell me one thing . When we climbed all the way to the # 1 seed in our division and one of the best teams in the NHL.. Who's system were they playing??? We were playing a tight brand of hockey where the players were supporting each other up and down the ice. When you leave players wide open in the slot and in front of the net that's basic defence a kid should know. Sanheim, Ghost have had these issues from the start of their careers. Gus you could see first game as a Flyer. You need balance on D and we just don't have it.

What about the goal with such bad backchecking the announcers were flabbergasted?

You don't go down 9-0 purely on individual mistakes. The team has played bad all season and this one has been it all going south badly (individually, team play, goaltending, etc)

No no, bad systems don't make bad defense. It's just that the entire roster have all simultaneously forgotten how to play hockey, but in the exact same ways that form a pattern that has repeated itself for weeks.

No doubt this game snowballed on them. But reality is we’re still giving 3+ goals a night at this rate. Regardless of fault, you’re not going to win many games that way.
