I wonder what McCabe's ceiling is, had a fight with a friend last night who of course threw out his thus far weak offensive stats in the NHL.

Look at his last season in Rochester

2014-15 Rochester Americans AHL 57 5 24 29

I think he can be a 40 point 2D one day.

I don't see him hitting 40 on a team he'll never sniff PP1 time.

I would agree with this. I think he's on pace to be a top pair guy. If he and Risto can develop the chemistry to complement each other jumping up in the play, then we're in fantastic shape.

I won't go there again. But, I don't see Eichel coming back and having 2 amazing games as a fluke. I see it as exponential growth and picking up right where he left off. It's amazing that one player at his age brings that much confidence to a team that just wasn't scoring whatsoever. 9 goals in 2 games. I'm a glass half full guy but I just think we're gonna see a lot more of that. Hope he stays healthy. This team can really go places if they can just scratch for 3 goals every game. Eichel back solidifies an honestly pretty scary top 6 when firing on all cylinders.

That's kinda why I put him in the same tier as, ahem...some other super talented young players. Willing an average team to score goals. All I'm sayin.

Ironically what you are saying fits into byslma's mold of low shots, suppression and squeezing out wins hoping we can score 3 a night. I hate this system but it is starting to look feasible after 2 games lol.

I think Foligno said it best...

“He’s a phenomenal player, someone that can just do something singlehandedly. We have the skill in here, but other teams have that individual talent, and that’s something we were missing when Jack went down.â€

Well Sabres Nation, you kicked out butts tonight. Obviously Ranger fan here and to be honest the score was alot closer than what the game indicated. Sure you guys got a fluky lucky first goal which 99.9% of the time doesnt go in off of Hank but still from my observation watching the whole game, 5 on 5 your boys dominated I'd estimate 75% of the possession time. Bad game for my boys nonetheless as our goaltending wasn't up to snuff and we really kind of stunk to be honest but that's a credit to your Sabres.

It was clear that you guys wanted this more than we did. Had it not been for 2 PP goals, the game really wouldn't have been as close as the score indicated. I tell you what and I'm sure y'all will agree, Eichel being back makes a HUGE difference in your team. I've watched your team quite a bit this year as I have Ryan O'Reilly on my fantasy team and seeing I have the NHL Center Ice Package, I like to watch my players and it's clear as day that Eichel being back makes your squad alot more dangerous.

So tip of the hat to you guys. I think there is quite a bit of potential for the Sabres and I would not be surprised in probably two years from now possibly even next year, your boys will be contending for a playoff spot. Good luck going forward and look forward to the next time our teams play each other. One things for sure, Sabres now that Eichel is back are not an easy mark for anyone and I would not be surprised whatsoever if you guys start playing better than .500 hockey going forward. Good luck fellas and keep your sticks on the ice...cheers

What else does Fedun have to do to solidify a spot in a healthy top 6?

Healthy top-6? Hahahaha. You mean the 10 games this season where that may actually happen?

Being left-handed would help, because he isn't displacing Franson, who's played better in his expanded role. Even then, I don't see Bylsma sitting Gorges for fear of what sitting a vet leader "would do to the room." In all honesty, he probably has to be the #7 and wait for another defenseman to get injured, or wait for forward or two to get hurt and hope someone tells Bylsma that he can play 7D, and utilize Fedun as a PP specialist and sheltered O-zone starter. Or wait until the deadline when more teams will be looking at impending UFA's (Franson) - though if we're anywhere near the playoff hunt, I don't think Murray would sell off Franson.
