I wonder how Red Bull currently feels about dropping Maloney...

Prema had an absolute shit weekend for their standards, but Antonelli still shut me up about my worries of Mercedes rushing him to F2. Beat Bearman in qualifying, sprint and the race.

I think Haas had a somewhat promising race, even though Hülkenberg ruined his race in the start. Magnussen stayed in the pack of cars around him throughout the entire race, and tyres didn't drop off massively like in pretty much every race last season.

Alpine... oof.

Otherwise not too many surprised.

Viewership down 14% in the USA.

Liberty is franking pissed at this result

What did he have a 26 second advantage at the checker?
Red Bull 1-2 in a cake walk.

Viewers are not interested in the battle for 3rd place, despite their efforts to market the hell out of the battle for 3rd place, it’s a losing effort to North America and potentially the global market.

None of this is very surprising. I think I talked about it last year, but the DTS hype, F1 starting to focus on social media in the post-Bernie era, and one of the very best seasons in 2021 had the viewing figures peak in the States at a level they'll likely never be again. They would've come down even if there had been average F1 seasons, but 2022 took it to the extreme.

Sainz really had Leclerc's number there though, I was entertained.

Bearman had damage following his contact with Cordeel, so his pace was probably not representative.

After Max joined the Red Bull main team Jos was given a formal role as Marko's assistant, Horner apparently still regards him as something of a mole.

I've been reading way too much "Verstappen to Merc 2025" since this morning for that rumor to have no credence whatsoever.

Could be that the turmoil at Red Bull is so extreme, that Verstappen would actually be considering it. But could also be a move by the people wanting Horner out at Red Bull.

If Verstappen went to Mercedes he'd essentially be saying he doesn't believe in Red Bull's future to the extent, that he's willing to sacrifice one championship title in 2025.
