I think in Thunder Bay the situation was similar, except each team had a trailer out back to put their extra gear in. Teams could hang their stuff in the room but that was it. The rooms were tiny. Had to do skates out in the trailer. The dressing room situation sucks, but it is what it is and it's likely to be that way from here on out (until the next format change...) not a lot of rinks that have access to 8 rooms big enough to host varsity teams. Us equipment guys are usually the afterthought to the afterthought.
The media situation sounds a bit lame though, no reason for that to happen. Also, it's the first time I can remember (at least the times my Coaches have attended since I've been in charge in '15) that the host don't provide accreditations for Coaches/Staff of non-playing teams. They have to buy tickets like any other attendee.
On a positive note, they held Concordia to 14 shots, most likely the lowest shot total Concordia has had all year?UNB with a dominant first period but that changed quickly in the second. Concordia really had UNB hemmed in their own zone for long periods of time. Came down to the very last second when the Stingers almost tied it.
Reds D looking pretty susceptible right now. I'm sure Les Patriotes coaching have taken notice.
Note - Some nasty weather in Charlottetown right now.
BIg crowds in the afternoon as they bussed in school kids. Half full, maybe, for the evening game. How were the crowds yesterday? Hard to tell on TV when it looks so dark.
Not like that one year at UNB where the temp was about 70 degrees and blazing sunshine. That's my kind of Spring hockey weather. Or conversely in Saskatoon where it was -70. Or Edmonton.BIg crowds in the afternoon as they bussed in school kids. Half full, maybe, for the evening game.
I will say the weather has not been good, which might be discouraging some casual fans driving to the rink. Did see lots of UNB fans who made the trek, and UNB Alumni had a table set up to distribute scarves, thunder sticks, pins, stickers, etc.
The kids will be there again today. Expect a full house tonight as the 'byes' dock the lobster boats, load up the Silverado and head to the big city. How were the crowds yesterday? Hard to tell on TV when it looks so dark.
I missed the five minute major. Was it an open ice hit or boarding? Thanks for coming out Windsor.
A crushing hit on the boards and he almost left his feet when he made the hit. The player had his back to the boards and took the hit on the chest and head. No arguments from me on that call. I like big clean hits, but the thing is - at that speed and location - the big hit can be out of control.I missed the five minute major. Was it an open ice hit or boarding?
I couldn't really see the hit from where I was sitting, but it certainly made a loud bang.A crushing hit on the boards and he almost left his feet when he made the hit. The kids were there until 2:00 pm today, so partway through the 3rd period. Certainly made a difference in the crowd noise, especially when they got the music they liked. Not like that one year at UNB where the temp was about 70 degrees and blazing sunshine.
