Owen Bartoszkiewicz could be another off the radar goalie to keep an eye on. He's playing college hockey, I don't think he's all that good at that level, but neither are the other options.

Does Seamus Casey have a shot at team USA? I feel it will be tough to get PP time with Hughes and Hutson likely anchoring the PPs and he doesn't really fit any other role other than 3rd pair PMD.

I think it will be Mbereko

He got his chance and he was mediocre. Maybe a little better as he’ll be a year older, but the best we can hope for is he doesn’t lose us the tournament. He doesn’t have high end ability to be any better than that.

I think he is the favorite to start and will be on the team, but I hope we play the best option. Mbereko is very average. Don’t be afraid to play a younger player.

Aside from him, the Oke guy that was on the team last year will probably be back on the team. He's not off to a good start, but there aren't many options, so he'll probably make it, even if it's only as the 3rd goalie again.

While Oke got off to a rough start, he's 4-0 in his last 4 with a 2.26 GAA and .913 save percentage. Saginaw has two good goalies in Oke and the starter Tristan Lennox (Isles draftee) and both are playing extremely well this year. It was a rocky start for both but the team was playing ZERO defense and giving up odd-man chances like crazy. Now, the team is settling in a bit and both goalies are making some crazy saves including this one over the weekend that got Oke the "save of the night."

Any idea what the D pairings might look like?

This is what I’d select.

Behrens-Hughes
Buium-Peart
Mittelstadt-Chesley
Hutson-Schmidt

I think you have to keep that 2003 NTDP first pair together. Put the Minny teammates together. Hutson needs a babysitter, so Schmidt is a good option. Buium has earned a spot with this team, so he can partner Peart. I think Hreschuk and Gallagher have lost their spots from the summer to Buium and Mittelstadt.

What role will he play if he makes it? It's the same question I ask myself with Casey. Hughes and Peart are probably the two PP QBs so outside being a PMD on the 3rd pair, there really isn't much of a fit.
he should def be the QB of the pp unit, second unit at the least

I don't see Peart as a foregone conclusion to QB one of the PP units. He certainly can, and as a 19 year old returnee the odds are in his favor, but not a guarantee.

hes also very good defensively. Hes not an offensive specialist and thats it

He's not very good defensively.

Please elaborate. What parts of his defensive game are good. I have a hard time finding Michigan games yet I have ESPN+, just wondering where you are able to watch Boston University games
You can watch his condensed game highlights on the Habs Prospect Videos Youtube Channel. They usually last 15 to 20 minutes and focus solely on Hutson.

He has a very good stick, defensive IQ, and speed. He reminds me of Harris defensively in many ways

Just curious if anyone thinks Cam Lund has a decent shot of making the team or if he’ll even get a camp invite? Thanks in advance.

Hutson can be picked for the same team as Hughes and Peart. I’m not sure that Peart will play PP. He’s good offensively, but is he better than Hughes, Behrens, and Hutson on the PP? I’d say no. He’ll likely play a two way role. Maybe can sneak onto a PP or PK, but unlikely to be playing that many minutes on either.

I think Hughes will be PP1 due to his place on the team. Might be the captain. Should be the best player. Hutson can play PP2. The question becomes do you take Behrens. His best ability is on the PP, but is it worth it? He’s not having the best season.

I don’t see how Casey makes sense to make it this year. If he makes it, Hutson and Behrens both probably don’t.

Just curious if anyone thinks Cam Lund has a decent shot of making the team or if he’ll even get a camp invite? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn’t call it decent, but I think he has a shot. With a good camp, he could sneak on. Next year seems more likely.

I still can't believe Mittlestadt went undrafted. He has looked like a stud for the gophers all year, and was a stud last year in the USHL. He's legit. Really weird, honestly.
