For Anaheim, you have Janicke and Perbix listed under prospects with expiring rights, Janicke is returning to ND for his fifth year of eligibility, and Perbix is transferring but also playing a 5th year in NCAA

I thought that an NCAA prospect's rights expired after four years.

(1) at NCAA lvele, there have been accommodations to NCAA eligibility during Covid allowing extended eligibility (5th, maybe eevn 6th seasons)

(2) but also NHL rights are retained as long as player remains an enrolled student, even if beyond 4 consecutive seasons

some examples follow - JST (now a ref) had a non-playing season midway but rights remined through the fifth year

E.Brodz is an example of player getting 5th full NCA season (although he wasn't a drafted player)

Detroit looks like they’ll finally be giving Biakabutuka an ELC here soon. He signed an ATO with Grand Rapids this afternoon.

Kid had a great NHL camp last season and was Detroit’s final cut.

It was strange they didn’t give him his ELC at that time but for whatever reason didn’t. He had another really good season in the Quebec League, putting more muscle on.

Maybe they’ve had this planned all along. Who knows. I had been told Lou was going to sign him back in the fall but that never transpired. There’s been hints over the last few months he’d be signing in Detroit before next season.

Another big young Dman. 6’4” RHD. Still can’t figure out how he wasn’t drafted.

Fixed.

Also
ARI: Anthony Romano
BOS: Quinn Olson
CGY: Josh Nodler
NJD: Patrick Moynihan
NYR: Riley Hughes
OTT: Luke Loheit

Have all been reported one place or another as returning for a 5th year/transferring and have been removed from the list of players needing to be signed.

Wonder if Farinacci might be amenable to a trade and the Coyotes could recoup a pick (ie, Thrun/Anaheim)? Farinacci could benefit by getting to burn the first year of ELC immediately, although I have no idea if he's close to being NHL ready.
