They’re definitely stronger on the back end than they are at forward as presently constituted.

However, with the emphasis that was placed on playing a more open, offensive minded style this past season, do we feel like Montgomery can switch gears and try to play a grind it out brand of hockey where you try to win games 2-1?
He was able to do it effectively with Dallas when needed.

given that we may have need for a top six RW, does Wheeler take a 1/2 year deal? is it even worth it? Both Marchand and DeBrusk are Good to Elite in the dzone to cover up the blemishes.

Marchand - X - Pastrnak
Debrusk - X - Wheeler

or if Bergy resigns and a trade for a center occurs

Marchand - X - DeBrusk
Zacha - X - Pastrnak

FWIW I still want to see Lauko, Steen and Merkulov fulltime on the bottom six next year

They're trading him. Updated lineup to reflect this:

Marchand-Bergeron-Sturm
Lucic-Krejci-Wheeler
Heinen-Primeau-Kessel
Kuraly-Accari-Frederic

Put the gun down @EverettMike .....
It was all worth it.

You should have been at the parade the other night! It was a blast.

My one regret is cheaping out and having the banner printed on paper instead of vinyl. I didn’t know it was going to rain every day in June. The thing disintegrated faster than the Bruins’ 3-1 series lead against the Panthers.

Still. What a wild ride it was!!

If Krejci does end up hanging them up, I’d give Brad Boyes a call.

I know it was against guys who can barely skate, but he was a 3.75 point per game player in my Sunday Night Men’s League last season.

I was debating between him, Isbister, or Schaffer for that spot

those cap numbers are decieving right? 13 million in space but then add in the 4.5 million bonus penalty when we have to be cap complient I assume.
The $4.5 is in there. It’s deceiving because that number is just for 13 players. The have to add 10 more players for $13m and Swayman/Frederic represent about $5.5 of that.

Long story short, they (always) had to buy out Reilly. If the fill in those open spots with rookies making the league minimum they’ll be $1-2m below the cap.

So right now they are compliant and can ice a full team with in house players, but to add Bertuzzi or O’Reilly or anyone, they have to move out an amount equal to what they’re bringing in.

Maybe we can get Zino over

Imagine the bankable space they will accumulate to load up for a cup run at the TDL :sarcasm:

I have no idea what this means or how it changes anything. He's still under contract and being paid by the Bruins, no?

Thats my point. They have done nothing.
They spent millions on a smokescreen.
"We are looking at changing our policies"
uh huh
zero accountability in all of this

Maybe I am the one who needs to put the gun down.

They have had many, many chances to make a statement and they have chosen not to at every turn.

THAT in itself is a statement.

But back on track. Summer. Glad they finally let Reilly go.

If the recent trades are anything to go by, this is not the offseason to try and flip assets for futures. Starting to feel like the best course of action is to try and ride out the bonus overages, try and get into the playoffs on the back of great defense and goaltending while incorporating youth into depth roles, and reevaluate next summer once the cap goes up.
Great, how are they improving the D to make it great????

If there isn't any youngish top centers available or atleast any with top center potential(which I doubt they can outbid others for those types anyways) this has to be just a kick back and see what happens type of year.

If you can pick up someone decent on a short term deal fine go ahead but the real focus should be on the 24-25 season. Hopefully no cap penalties besides the Reilly buyout, more contracts coming off the books and an assumed fairly significant cap increase.

Not sure what the UFA class looks like next year but it can't be any worse than this year. If the season isn't going well Grizz and Forbort can easily be traded at the deadline. Let Bertuzzi and the others walk and just go with what you have. I'm perfectly fine with a down year.

Bergy might come back if he can play with that guy again lol
