Am I the only one who doesn’t really want Bertuzzi back? Much rather we spend Halls money on bolstering the defense and finding the center for the future.

Bertuzzi is likely to cost slightly more and is only slightly better than Hall. More of a lateral move if you ask me and doesn’t solve our problems whatsoever.

I want bertuzzi, I’ve stated my position on him so I want to over it again.

I do know that this team needs something on LW going forward though. Hall gone, Marchand going into his age 35 season with two years left. Then what Lauko? Maybe tho he move Debrusk back to the left side but he only has a year left and then that leaves a fairly big hole at RW now too.

No idea what the solution is, but pretty perplexing moving hall and not getting any tradable asset back to make a move for another player via trade. They could really use bertuzzi

I love Tory but he's not coming back to the Bruins.

Been there, done that. He did not feel appreciated by Sweeney, contract wise.

HE may forgive.

But he doesn't forget.
He also doesn't solve any problems we have.

Big cap hit.
Plays LD, looking at our 4 signed LD making at least 16 million combined.

Good grief I saw someone suggested 8 years 50 million for him.

How many years until that is the worst contract in hockey? 3 maybe 4? Between the injury issues, and the fact he is one of the worst defensive player in hockey. Yeah, he and Pasta will put some points up when he is healthy, but we are not going to have the defense in future years to help cover for him

Lol. So again, there must be something in the water. Players wanting out and all. Perhaps they burn the whole thing down eh.

They should.

After all the exits, I would strip that club clean and begin again.

I'm a jerk, but I don't want any part of any player who plays in the Peg.

I don't want the headache. I doubt the Bruins do, either. Let MS make his millions elsewhere. And then fire his personal chef without proper payment. Yes, it was a thing.

Good riddance to bad garbage.

They’re in a weird place for sure.

On the one hand, they’ve got some really good pieces locked up moving forward.

But on the other hand, they don’t have any major bargains that enable them to overcome bloating in the middle of the roster.

Lindholm is good value, but he’s not really a steal.

Ullmark isn’t a bad contract by any stretch, but him plus Swayman isn’t an overly cheap combination between the pipes.

They’re up against it with a couple of gaping holes at center.

In all likelihood, you probably have to move more off of this roster in order to move the pendulum forward.

I just don’t see the path to bridge this thing.

We should target Jonathan Drouin as a UFA, give him a 1M " show me" contract. He has a ton of skill, just hasn't put it altogether yet.
Domi would be a nice pickup as well. He played really well for the Stars in the playoffs. Would he sign for somewhere around 3M?
If Bergy comes back at the same deal as last year, you can move Zacha back to the wing.

Marchand Bergy JDB
Zacha Domi Pasta
Frederic Coyle ??
Lauko Drouin Greer
Drouin feels like Benoit Pouliot part 2.0

I mean, I'm all for low risk low cost moves, but expectations would be low.

Agree.

Tory's not coming back. That ship has sailed.

I wish they would keep Gryz, but...

Good news: The two Blackhawk prospects, and the NJ pickup are all right shot D.

Addressing a need, cheaply. And, to give Sweeney his due, likely in intelligent fashion.

I like it.

The beauty of Bergeron/Marchand on discounted contracts, that afforded management to bungle the cap with the middle of the roster and still ice a pretty good team for most seasons.

Pastrnak and McAvoy locked up on fair, yet not quite discount rates means we have to actually play smart with all contracts. We literally cannot afford more Backes, Belesky, John Moore, Mike Reilly, Nick Foligno overpays anymore.

I know not everyone here pays attention to the details of the salary cap, but everyone should take a hard look at this.

Everything points to the fact that even if they buyout/trade two of Reilly/Forbort/Grzelcyk, they can't make any interesting additions in free agency or the trade market. Another decently sized contract (say $4M+) probably has to go to make anything other than very barebones additions a reality.
Which is why people have been making Ullmark trade proposals for 3 months.
