Truly a nightmare scenario for the Mets.

Of all the players to go down, Diaz is the one the Mets LEAST can afford to.

This changes the ENTIRE complexion of the upcoming season.

Wins are no longer guaranteed without Diaz to shut the door in the 9th (or in the 8th plus the 9th).

and the worst part is he didn't suffer the injury during play.

it was during a f--king celebration. WTF, man?

Edwin Diaz suffered a right knee injury Wednesday night during the on-field celebration of Puerto Rico's victory over the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. This just fits right into the Mets bad luck.

Dano is a Mets fan. So is Matt on our radio side and so am I. Dammit! Not gonna hate on the WBC because of it. Kinda like it and think it's good for the game overall. This just sucks. Long season and other arms in the bullpen...

I understand the WBC is a big thing for many players to represent their country and it was a freak accident but sheesh how bad is our luck as Mets fans lol. you could argue edwin diaz is the mets' most important player and now he's potentially out for the season. expecting the worst, hoping for the best.

yeah I'm not holding my breath as far as Diaz making it back this season.

It happened at the Marlins home ballpark. Marlins had to be involved is some manner. I hate the f***ing Marlins!

People always question why the Marlins are #4 in my top 5 hated teams in the MLB. "They're the Marlins, they are irrelevant"

f*** that waste of a franchise. Nothing good happens against them. Even when they lose or aren't even playing they find ways to f*** the Mets. f*** them.

What an incredible game last night. WBC has been truly fun to watch. Tonight’s game might be the most watched baseball game of all time.

Anthony Volpe, the local NJ kid, makes the Yankees Opening Day lineup at 21 years old as starting shortstop.

Amazing story, was playing mostly Double A last year in Somerset for the Patriots, grew up idolizing Derek Jeter. Feels like deja vu all over again.

Crazy that a kid from Delbarton is the opening day SS for the Yanks. They 100% made the right choice.

At least Yankee fans get their Opening Day done well before tonight, it’ll be a pain for us Mets/Devils fans. The one year I actually would have been glad to have a 1:10 opener…

2 hours and 33 minutes for Yankees opening day. I’m not sure how long it has been since a Yankees game (full 9 innings) went that fast. The Devils-Rangers games tonight might take longer.
