Wise hockey coach, that mom.
She was tough I got hit by a pitch in little league I might have been 8 and she told me to stop crying and rub some dirt on it

I was about 15 or so and didn’t cut this small area of grass off to the side of the garden - and she was sitting on the patio having iced tea with a couple of our neighbor gals, and she says ‘Danny you missed that spot. I said, ‘no I didn’t there were a bunch of bees there I didn’t want to get stung’

She just looks at me and in disgust says ‘you’re such a wimp’

That’s my mother

Thank God Gordon Howe mother wasn’t there to call me out as soft and go off on a rant

my mother used to tell me ‘good centers don’t go on trees’

Remember games 3 & 4 in Florida no 37 or 46 and Coyle & Zacha were very good and Bruins spanked them by 10-4

When Bergeron & Krejci came back and Monty coached like he had never seen a hockey game that’s when they go beat
that team also had Hall and Bertuzzi on the wings, and Orlov on the back end. It had enough talent is other areas to make up for the fact that the center depth was not very good with Bergeron and Krejci out. This current team has none of that.

If you add Hanifin and then also add a legit top 6 winger that pushes JVR down to the third line and Heinen down to the 4th line permanently, then maybe we're in business. But we don't have the assets to make two big additions like that, and the team seems unwilling to give Lysell a chance to be that top 6 addition. Beecher could also be that FO and PK specialist that Nosek was, but he's in Prov too.

Let's say they sign Noah in offseason, why they need to trade Carlo? Noah is a lh dman and Carlo is a rh dman. Why they need to trade Lindholm? I have no doubt Lohrei is going to be a good player, but right now he is better suited for 3rd pair duties. Adding to that, they sign Swayman long term next move is trade Ullmark, so there is no need to trade Carlo or Lindholm.
Agreed there is no mandate to trade either one but, while Hanifin is talented he’s not exactly Chris Pronger.

If people are comfortable with a very soft 2-5 group in Hanifin, Carlo, Lindholm,Lohrei….I won’t try to convince you otherwise.

I’d just feel better with McAvoy, Hanifin, one of Carlo or Lindholm, Lohrei and two physical guys to round out the top 6.

Im not sure they do.
The price will be high and they just signed Pettersson.
From what I have seen, the fan take on him in Van is mixed.
Is getting him locked up long term what the Canucks need this summer?
he seems more of a luxury for vancouver. in boston, he's centering the top line. right now he's a checking center.
but it depends on his asking price. the guy supposedly wants 8-9M which is a no go.

if i was any prominent player who was going to make a ton of money id also force my way to a no state income tax team. better than paying a millionaires tax here.
I couldn't do that....if that state was Fla, Ari, I would not be able to live there
and I was making 7M and taking home 4.5 M I think I could live pretty well on that

Much like almost anywhere, Florida is a lovely place to live if you are very wealthy.

I wouldn't want to live in Tampa or Miami. But if I was taking home 5 million a year, I'd love to live in either. Same is true of texas, heck even California.

If I was any prominent player who was going to make a ton of money I would be happy to be able to support an education, health care and public services for folks who need it.

Serious question.....

We can't play kids because they are not ready.....Merk, Lysell, Lohrei I hear isn't ready, Poitras should not be playing, Regula not ready.....so any player we draft or is young is basically not allowed to play until they are 24-25...so why are we worried about draft picks when they are probably going to suck anyways, and not even get a chance until mid 20s (don't Poitras me - many people think he shouldn't be playing anyway)

Isn't a known commodity better than a crap shot that is 4-5 years away, that we probably won't give a chance to anyway

Question: Has Lysell's body developed enough to handle the punishment of NHL play? No guarantee either way but underdeveloped body (muscle mass/core strength) leaves one susceptible to upper body injury (shoulder). It could be he has the talent but he is not physically ready ... so they don't want to risk his development.

IMO what we need is

#1 C
#1/2 Winger
Defensive/Physical Defensemen
Defensive Structure
Teammates that care about one another
Guys that will hit in a dump and chase scenario
Guys that understand that the game is 3 periods instead of 1 or 2.

You can also add about 15 million in cap space to the need list.
