WJC: 2022 Team Slovakia roster talk

As a devils fan, I'd really want Nemec to be there (Slafkovsky should go too).

Playing as a star on an "underdog" nation can do wonders for these kids' confidence and development, so long as the team has at least some talent to play with. Stutzle and Seider are great recent examples of that IMO. Hischier with Switzerland as well.

It's a little tougher on teams like Austria who have no real shot against top teams. But for top prospects from countries like Slovakia, Czechia, Germany, and Switzerland, I think it's some of the best experience they can get.

Quite a few top guys from other nations have already said they won’t be going, I think Slaf is less likely to go in comparison to Nemec as I think the former has a better chance at cracking the opening night roster. But I wouldn’t be shocked if neither went. Our team without them is still good enough to finish 3rd in the group and potentially upset a top team from other group in QF.

with so many of our big guns missing, we are probably gonna get lit up by the big teams. Even if it's the same for all countries, the big teams probably have much deeper prospect pools to choose from than us.

It's a shame that this generation has got such shitty luck with international tournaments. Couldn't play the U18 and now missing the U20.

This tournament will be compromised by the lack of quality I am afraid. Not a real WJC in my eyes.

Based on exhibition matches Kolenic seems to really want to get back on the team after being left off in December.
