Why tf do they never let the goalies fight, that'd bring so much attention to the sport
"Not good for the game" according to the espn broad cast.

This is why no one watches this boring league. Can’t believe the refs stopped Copley and Gibson there. Unbelievable.
Gibson could have made that fight happen if he really wanted to

Fiala with the lowest TOI out of the top 42 NHL point producer's. Gotta find a way to play him more even though the kings are rolling right now.
I wouldn’t change his deployment a damn bit.

He is driving play, making simple plays exiting the zone, and gets to feast on slightly weaker competition.

It ain’t broke, so don’t fix it.

So Cal
Nothing wrong with this toi at all. Kings have major depth at forward right now and its a great thing. Kopi doesnt need to carry the weight and all forwards saw at least 10 minutes in TOI.

Yea Todd has been rolling all 4 lines since the break. Seems like all the young players in the lineup have finally earned his trust on both sides of the rink.
That is a big step for the young guys to take.
Now the next step is them contributing more on the score sheet. If that happens and they shore up the defense the Kings will be a force.

Kempe, Kupari, Vilardi, Kaliyev, Byfield -- remember when the Kings couldn't draft/develop impact forwards? I feel like it was just like 30-40 games ago.

Yea it seems like maybe Todd changed his approach a bit also. Last year he was benching the rookies more after mistakes. Seems like they have a little bit more leeway this year.
But also putting rookies with great veterans has helped. When Byfield turns it over it doesnt end up in his own net every time like it did with Brown and AA.
Kaliyev getting powerplay time as the shooter on the right side is great this year.
Kupari has clearly been told what role to take on and hes getting there.
Kempe got put in the top six last year and has run with it. Vilardi has been good everywhere hes been put this year but this is a player that had to find it within himself to take the next step. Maybe the coaching staff told him something at the end of last season that gave him some fire to get it done.
So things have changed and that is great for all of us.

He probably has a lot to do with it.

Did he tell Doughty to stop taking big dumb slap shots from the point that never get through? Seems like Drew hasn't been doing that anymore.

That alone makes Hiller worth his salary and then some.
He did it once last night, but at least he did it off a one-timer (pre-shot movement). He was still way too far out given the space he had to move in and find a better play. I'm nitpicking but Drew specifically bugs the hell out of me with his PP choices sometimes.

I don't know, I doubt it...I'm sure what is going on is not too far off the projected plan. The difference is that most fans, especially the experts around here, don't have the patience to roll with it.

I think the powerplay success is a combination of the coaching change, and also having a lot of skilled wingers who can finish (Arvidsson, Kempe, Kaliyev, Vilardi).

Drew has always been a mediocre point man with the man advantage.

His decision making with regards to getting shots through is comically bad.

Was at the game. Definitely more Duck fans. Maybe 60-40 or 65-35. But wow, that place is dead and those fans are dead (guess the Ducks will do that to you). Noise wise, you'd have thought it was 75-25 Kings some other thoughts:
1. Byfield makes some amazing plays and passes. Things other people can't see on the ice. One day he'll play with some guys who are in tune with him and it'll be golden. I think it'll take some time for guys to be prepared & expect those passes and finish them.

2. Kupari has really improved -- all around game. If his offense ever comes around, watch out -- he could be a top 6 guy eventually if so. But at least his floor looks great as a very valuable and useful 3rd / 4th line guy.

3. I don't understand the love for Zegras. He was invisible expect for being p***y and taking penalties. The last one he went to the box slowly and slumped over like my kid when i yell at him. He's not someone you build your franchise on to win. Maybe it was one game idk. But i see more a guy who interested in himself and a highlight goal than winning hockey.

4. PP is sooo much better it's seriously night & day.

5. Copley got hit and was mad earlier in the period before the fight. He was incensed and wanted to fight Gibson. Like Zegras, Gibson was a p***y. Mugged for the cameras. Meanwhile Copley had to be held back in complete anger wanting to fight Gibson.

6. I love Quick...LOVE. But when he came in, it was scary. Everytime he touched the puck or a shot came, you expected a goal. I was about 10 rows from him. It was bad. Maybe he was cold and all. But dang he looks done. If it doesn't turn around fast, the FO needs to have him address his "groin" and go on the IR. Then bring up Cal -- yes, it's that bad.

7. Nice to see Gabe Vilardi back out there again.

8. Ducks suck

Because he's always being held back. Not once can I remember him being able to get his gear off like Cop did tonight. But there was this from earlier this season vs Seattle.Jones wanted no part of him. There have been plenty of other times when he's done what Gibson did and stopped by the refs. He wants to go, make no mistake about it.

I love Quick. If he ever really wanted to go, he would have. Copley did more last night than Quick has over his entire career.

I don’t know why so many Kings fans have a fantasy of Quick being a fighter. I think they want him to be “tough” even though all he’s ever done is throw cheap shots at guys in a scrum in the crease, and there’s ALWAYS a ref or some teammates nearby. It’s total fantasy, he doesn’t want to fight no matter how many fans dream about it.

Everyone loved a good goalie fight. It's the lesbian porn of hockey. All kinds of win
