Ice Dogs will need major contributions from young forwards to make a playoff push...I think it's more likely they will need another year before a playoff birth is realistic. Best case scenario is 7th place more realistically, 9th or 10th in the East.

Okay Here Goes My Attack 2022-23 Roster to Start next Season

Chenard (20)
Votary (18)

Seed (20) - Sedley (19)
Steen (18) - Okitundu (18)
Jordan (18) - Uens (17)
Rogers (16)

Burroughs (19) - Petrovsky (18) - Guindon (18)
Bryant (18) - Barlow (17) - Goure (19)
Lawrence (19)/(If Healthy) - LeSage (19) - Fantino (18)
Bonaiuto (18) - Chafe (17) - Cormier (16) - Tersigni (16)
Import (17/18) - 17yo (17) (or) Trade - 20yo (20) -Trade

There's always a deal or two could be made and teams will have 20yo that could be moved next season, so there's that and teams always have surprises in training camps. August 29th/22 can't come fast enough in OS.
New import will be a dman...look for trades to upgrade 1 possibly 2 OA spots with Chenard only lock....also a 19 year old dman for the mix....trades will be made...18 yr old age group could be paired down for the 19yr old

IMO it seems that so many teams signed more players than normal this season due to COVID concerns.
As a result, it seems like many teams have extra bodies returning and there is a lot of talk about trading some of these extra bodies. I expect training camps will be even more competitive than usual in September and the pre-season/early season trade market may be a buyer's market.

I’ve also noticed EVERY fan base thinking they’re gonna trade OA’s for assets/players. It just seems like there’s more of that this year and a lot of it is optimistic thinking there’s a market for mid-lower-level OA’s. Is ANYbody’s team looking for OA’s next year?

With 6 NHL ranked players, at all positions, I think Guelph is built for next year. (Buchinger, Zhilkin, Karabela, Bowman, Poitras, Oster). If Pastujov does turn pro, that may change things a bit depending on where we are at the deadline. If that is the case and they sell, I think they make Zhilkin available for a younger first rounder to build around the Karabela, Poiras, Bowman line and Buchinger, Allen to go for 2023/24. But more likely,
I think George will go for a F/D combo at the deadline to shore up the team and they will make a run.
I predict that Owen Sound will be our biggest competition.

Early for such predictions I know, our forward depth is there next year, allowing for forwards to be traded along with picks for the necessary upgrades. I really like what I've seen of Oster in net, and I haven't been high on past goalies that have taken us to championships, so if he works hard in the off season I think we've got a real shot.

Sudbury will be in the market for 1 OA for sure, likely 2. Wolves would definitely be interested in a goalie.

Sudbury is in a REALLY good spot if Musty is playing third line minutes.

I'll take a stab at Kitchener. Here we go! Risky putting Mesar in the lineup but I'm hoping depending on who drafts him this summer they will persuade him to come to the OHL.

Mesar (import) - Pinelli - Valade (OA)
Rehkopf - Serpa (OA) - Martin
Swick - Hage - Sop
A. LeBlanc - Mercer - Fishman

Extras: Misaljevic / Pugliese / Zidlicky / Bottineau

4th line was the hardest for me as the team is pretty deep with players with OHL experience who could battle for some bottom 6 positions. If Mesar does not report everyone could get bumped up the lineup. Also, if Hage doesn't show up until midseason or 23-24 that could free up another spot.

Motew - Schmidt
Andonovski - Harper (OA)
Longacre - J. LeBlanc

Extras: Hollett / Terrance / Gilmour / Fegaras

Could use some more LHD but maybe some prospects or rookies like Longacre prove themselves and earn a spot in the D core.

Parsons
Vandenburg/trade/free agent backup

Sorry. Hit post before adding my comments. This is how I see/hope things start out next season....

*Howard - Goure - Burroughs
Petrovsky - Barlow - Guindon
Lawrence - Bryant - Fantino
Boniauto - Cormier - Chafe (Unless Portikalis and or Lesage are kept)

(Seed) - Sedley
Import - Uens
Jordan - Steen

*Rogers/Okitundu/Thacker (Seed is expendable if there is s deal to be made)

Chenard
Votary
*George

Big stretch on Howard, but adding Howard, Lawrence, and Cormier to an already dynamic forward group would be fantastic. Have to hope whoever drafts Howard feels the OHL is better spot for him to become NHL ready. The D corp needs some juggling. I expect to see Uens and Steen taking on bigger roles this year and I would guess there are some spots up for grabs. If they use their import pick on a D, I think you could see one or 2 D dealt and it wouldn't surprise me if it were one or both of the older guys.

Chenard is the only lock for an overage spot.

Just my thoughts/opinion.

Am I missing something here? Isn't Misaljevic playing on your first line this playoff how does he become a scratch?

Right now I believe he’s on the top line because they are trying to spread scoring throughout the lineup. The Rangers sold off at the deadline. Declan McDonnell was Pinelli’s wingman up until then. They tried a few guys in that spot recently and currently, Miseljevic has been playing well there.

Right now it’s too early to determine whether or not the Rangers can truly contend next year.

RD-Harper

03’s
LC-Pinelli
RD-Schmidt
RW-Fishman

LC-A LeBlanc
RD-J LeBlanc
LW-Pugliese
LW-Swick
LC-Miseljevic
G-Vandenberg
RW-Filip Mesar*(Slovak league)
RD-Hunter Brzustewicz*(NTDP)
LD-Calle Odelius*(Djurgardens)
LW-Cutter Gauthier*(NTDP)
RD-George Fegaras*(OJHL)

05’s
LC-Rehkopf
RC-Mercer
LD-Andonovski
LC-Zidlicky
RC-Ryan Fine*(NTDP)

06’s
RC-Micheal Hage*
LD-Cole Longacre*
RC-Justin Bottineau*

The Rangers have 21 returning from their roster this year including the probable three OA’s, Jesse Fishman who missed the whole year due to injury, and current third string goalie Marcus Vandenberg. They also have eight players (*) yet to sign or report not including our 2022 draft class.

In my opinion, a lot hinges on how many of these players report. There is a ton of quality there and I feel that it is imperative to get as many of these guys as possible to report if we want to be a contender next year.

We don’t have a ton of high picks in the cupboard meaning the ability isn’t there to trade our way into contention.

How MM approaches the upcoming import draft will give us a good idea as to whether either of Mesar and Odelius are in our plans. Or rather, if the Rangers are in their plans.

So we could either be a contending team or a team selling graduating players at the deadline.

Too early to tell.

Soo will be firmly rebuilding/tweaking. No impact 19 year olds, although some good players returning as 18 year olds. Probably similar to our 2019-2020 team where we tweaked a bit to get ready for the following season, and ended up a bubble 8/9 team.

OUT
Kartye
MacKay
Calisti
Kerins
Dickinson
O'Rourke
Thompson
Tynan - trade
Anselmini - waived

BEST GUESS
D'Intino - McConnell-Barker Sr. - Mignosa
Savard - Allard - Watson (OA)
IMPORT* - Brown* - Cloutier
McMullen (OA) - Ryan* - Hookey
Montroy - X - Kostov*

Carlisle - Kudryavtsev
Toms - Brzustowski
Scott* - Gibson*
McConnell-Barker Jr.*

Ivanov
Schenkel
Miller*
That's painful to read, seeing what we're losing....hoping we'll see some surprises next season as how it stands we aren't returning alot of scoring....definitely a rebuild year for the Soo, if we make playoffs that's a bonus

Petrov (Import)/Jackson (OA)/MacDonald (OA)
Wakely/Arnsby/Van Steensel
Terasevich/Podiloukh/Romani
Sima/Procyszyn/Bouchard
Extra: Therrien/MacQueen-Spence

Winslow (OA)/Nelson
Mathurin/Christopolous
Lukin (Import)/Gauvreau
Extra: Turley

Divincentiis
Robertson

Should be a team to contend, lots of picks available to add at the deadline as required.
I like your thinking....the only small change I'd make is I'd keep Therrien in Powassan for a year and bring along Tatarenko instead.

Appreciate all the responses to this thread! Was very curious as to what others teams fans were hoping/expecting & now I know haha.

Best of luck to your teams in the off season & into next season (not to much luck tho 😁)

London's success will depend on two things...
1) the return of Brochu, AND
2) the signing of Frank Nazar.
If both don't pan out, no chance of contending.

Cardwell (SJS) - Haight (22’ NHL) - McDonnell (TB)
Jelsma (22’ NHL) - Vierling (NYR) - IMPORT

Matthews - Grisolia - Jodoin

Clarke (LAK) - Akey
Punnett - Cholach (VGK)
Tiller - athcison

Lalama (OA)

Too many regulars in this lineup. Early 2nd rounders need to see ice. People need to be cut.

With vierling and McDonnell not signed they’ll be back. I also think cardwell is back, if not right away - mid season.

Most draft picks in the league.. bad goaltending. Do you trade Clarke this year for a huge return for impact player + picks to go all in next year, or do you try and make back to back runs over 2 years?
