Jones plays both LD and RD in this tournament. Something to look for in training camp. I think Jones will get a look a both LD and RD, Lundkvist also plays both LD and RD

Jones play at the end of the year and in the WCs makes it easier to stomach trading Lundkvist, if thats the route they go

Or Miller if they decide to go after someone like a signed Barkov and have Lundkvist and Jones replace Miller.

I’d move Miller in a deal for a signed Barkov (agreeing before trade) if it came down to it

For me they are different players. Jones is always going to be an offensive defenseman. Lundkvist has top pairing two way defenseman potential.

Also Lundkvist is probably ready right now, while Jones is still two years away in my mind.

Schneider is the guy we should think about when it comes to Nils

Canada ekes into next round when Germany 2 -Latvia 1 ends in regulation.
OT would've hopped both over Canada.

Meanwhile it seems US will play Slovakia (prob not face Huska ...) they have, at times, given US trouble in IIHF tourneys

Chytil got the shootout winner for Czech Repulic vs Denmark 2-1 win

Nice goal by Chytil, but that goalie needed to hit the right bumper to poke check that puck off Chytil's stick. Chytil deked like 6 times with the last one being from 2 inches away. Happens in the NHL too, goalies can get caught thinking shot, no deke, no wait it's a shot!, and end up missing their poke check opportunity.

Hank was killer at using that poke check, and towards the end of his career the breakaway specialists began faking shots from far to get him slightly off balance, and then doing a quick wide deke to the backhand followed by roofing it over his extended pad. Hank wouldn't technically 'bite' on the fake shot but for some reason that move in particular seemed to give him great difficulty. It's a tough move to finish perfectly on the backhand like that, but players nowadays seem to do it with ease.

I probably would too but Millers size and athelticism isn't something to overlook in what it brings to the roster. Even if he's not crushing people with huge checks etc he's strong against other players and the blueline needs to keep some size in it. Jones and Lundkvist just can't bring that to the table.

But for Barkov, you make sacrifices

Chytil is playing really well for the Czech Rep. could he take another big step next season?

I am totally fine with just adding some goons for the 4th line and a bit more depth for next season, and a real coach. Think this team could surprise a lot of people.

To someone who has watched a lot of the tournament...his would you evaluate Jones play? He’s getting top pair minutes. Worthy?
Havent seen him play, but he is getting anywhere between #1 dman minutes to #3. Most he got was 23 minutes a couple games ago. On average it seems like he's gotten the most minutes total out of all the defenseman on the team.

I don’t even know that he needs to take another big step. He just had a really good season here that doesn’t look all that impressive in raw statistics because of his usage. Can you guess who the two players in this chart are:

Blackwell is taking faceoffs in this tournament. so I guess he will be the Rangers 3rd line center next season while Chytil moves to wing. :sarcasm::huh::help:

Nice run by Team USA, they have one gold medal in this tournament, and it was 1933. Last silver was in 1950.

Looks like Jones had a great game, led the team with just under 23 minutes of ice, assist, and was a +4.

Wow, just realized that Jones, through 8 games, has not been on the ice for a single even strength goal against. Mighty impressive considering he is playing top pair minutes!

.. with at least 4 PIM as well, was multitasking with game on across the room, but saw him sent to box twice
