Want no part of Ovi at the price he'll command, he's not anywhere near the player he was, basically Washington is going to kill their cap by paying roughly 12 mil for a power play specialist.

As for my previous point - Vegas will always be a destination for players, low tax state, rabid fans, great arena, low cost of living, etc. We're not going to fall off the map.

True. Signing FAs will never be a problem for VGK. What does suck is this is a 4-year old franchise that never got the chance to add a marquee player by drafting super high.

We got hosed year 1 by not being able to draft until 6. If we could have added Makar or Pettersson we might still be playing right now.

This Tampa team is giving the Knights such an easy template to follow. Stop chasing more skill guys, go get more real grit. Not guys who hit all over the place, guys that go to the front of the net and don't let anyone move them out easily. Guy like Gallagher would be perfect for the Knights if only they could get over their stupid obsession with size. Who on the Knights has the grit to go get beaten up with blood everywhere and still come back for more? Maybe Reaves and Carrier could if they weren't so obsessed with big hits.

Also takes a system that focuses on using the F to attack instead of the default being passing to the point.

Biggest thing with this tampa team is they can play a 6-4 game, or they can play a 1-0 game. Just a solid team top to bottom with the best goalie in the league. The extra cap also helps. Insane Brisebois isn't unananimous GM of the year.

Our state is changing. I’m not sure the taxes will continue to be this low. I don’t want to get into politics and debates about how high or low they should be though, just the impact it could have on the team.

Tampa with 2 power play goals in 3 games. It’s fascinating to watch them and I still think Montreal was underrated, but this series is embarrassing. And it makes me more confident our team would lose to both Tampa and the Islanders.

I won't get into politics, even though it's a large part of my life, but I do think Vegas will continue to be a destination regardless.

Yes I do agree with that. And even though I hear locals complain about the weather, it’s still better than a lot of other places.

This can continue no doubt but how come McPhee never got a deal from a guy he signed if it is such a destination? Easier to convince a guy to come instead of any Canadian city and many US cities, but still the advantage should be not just getting them but getting at least some signing discount.

Don't disagree - not only a hometown discount due to economics, but also because of the organization being committed to running a first class organization, and spending to the cap to have a contender year after year. Plus the fact that players make a lot of money from off-ice pursuits and making it big in Vegas is great from a public relations standpoint.

With regards to Martinez I wonder if we might offer him extra years to keep the AAV manageable for us. Say he gets an offer of 3x5m from a non Cup contender, I'd offer him 5x3. He gets the same amount he would have if not more due to state taxes and he gets to stay in a winning situation he's familiar with.
<edit>delete due to huge stupidity

Athletic article about his trade request said Blues' own physicians did the surgeries and mishandled them both. Yikes.

The old Tarasenko would be a massive boon to the Knights. True sniper. Current one? Stay far away.

Minny buying out Suter, have to think he'll get a fairly big contract AAV-wise from another team. Big loss for Minny imo.

I think Suter will chase a Cup over a payday. He's made a lot and won nothing. I'd easily take both he and Parise cheap.

Don't want Parise but Suter if he can be a cheaper Martinez replacement.

Also lol to the tweet that hates him in Vegas but doesn't mind Colorado.
