Musty in the OHL with the uncertainty over hockey in Ontario would be very surprising. If he doesn’t go NTDP he is far ahead the #1 pick in the draft. Why would he risk coming here ? Seems unlikely

Rumours have started to swirl that Sudbury is looking at Musty for the #1 overall pick. He seems like a lock for NTDP team but stranger things have happened.

Apparently he's been fairly upfront with his intent to play in the OHL for multiple years now. He was in a couple Ontario showcase tournaments in his bantam year, whereas most American kids who don't come OHL, don't attend those

I suspect Sudbury would have an easier time convincing Musty (or any other high end 05) to report if the player, his family, and agent could talk about the future plan with the head coach. Sudbury doesn’t have one, and that’s a problem when it comes to player recruitment.

Sudbury shouldn't have a difficult time recruiting. They've had their time being the team no one will go to and the location isn't ideal, but they have had some big names the past few seasons that have worked out quite well in Byfield and Luukkonen, as well as having Jack Thompson, Isaak Phillips and Blake Murray all drafted in a 2 year period and Chase Stillman will also be selected this year.

For the coach, or lack thereof, that will come. If Musty signs with Sudbury, everyone who's ever stood behind a bench will want to be the guy who coached him in junior and helped him get to the next level.

I think there is a staff but I’m not sure what they do because they don’t release rankings or a list.
Is there an actually OHL central scouting for their draft? Does someone have a list other than the nice 60 players to watch write up?

The OHL Central Scouts staff is responsible to watch players in their area, go to some tournaments for crossover scouting, write reports, rate players then as a group provide a list to all the OHL teams. This list is only provided to the OHL teams and is not made public. Covid prevented any of this from happening this year.

This is accurate as to how OHLCS works. They have scouts at u15/16 games and keep game reports as well as player profiles, that are accessible by every team. Working relationships with the scouts also allow team GMs and Scouts to contact them to ask questions about certain players or clarification issues. An OHL scouts greatest resources are OHL Central Scouting and ISS Hockey, outside of their own ranks that is.

USHL Phase I Draft was today. Here's where these players that I noted were selected:

Round 1, 3rd Overall (Waterloo): F Joseph Willis
Round 1, 4th Overall (Lincoln): F Cooper Pierson
Round 1, 5th Overall (Dubuque): F Michael Burchill
Round 1, 8th Overall (Sioux City): F Brian Nicholas
Round 1, 14th Overall (Madison): D Nicholas Fascia
Round 2, 16th Overall (Youngstown): F Chase Pirtle
Round 2, 17th Overall (Sioux Falls): D Zachary Sharp
Round 2, 24th Overall (Tri-City): F Cameron Briere
Round 3, 31st Overall (Youngstown): F Brandon Svoboda
Round 3, 39th Overall (Chicago): F Nathan Murray

Four players from Ontario based teams were also selected today. Giacomo Martino from the Vaughan Kings went to the Waterloo Black Hawks in the 6th round, Christopher Thibodeau from the Kitchener Jr. Rangers and Luca Pinelli from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens went to the Waterloo Black Hawks in the 9th round, and Ben Lalkin from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens went to the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the 10th round.

There's definitely reason to believe that Luca Pinelli and co. are using that as a deterrent to go to Kitchener at 17. From everything I've read, he's supposed to go in that range and in 2019, his brother told some teams he wouldn't report if they selected him ahead of the Rangers pick. Their older brother Anthony was also selected by the Rangers in the 2018 U18 draft.

For anyone still following along and wondering why the draft has come to a complete halt in the 13th round. The pick has been removed from the live updates. There were 2 picks made after the fact, though. Not sure where they go from here.
