They were allowed to make trades that are "Pick x player and we will give you a pick." If they were going to make the moves you are saying, they would have just done that instead.

So the freeze created deals that couldn't happen before the freeze but they also didn't just expose the player they wanted the kraken to take and ship them a pick afterwards for future considerations Because they wanted extra paperwork.

Nice, but no. Tampa didn't want to lose Gourde and they certainly wanted Johnson off the books. They couldn't protect Gourde so the assumed agreement is, for example, Gourde back to TB for Johnson and a first. Just because Tampa exposed players they wanted Seattle to take, doesn't mean Seatte would take him. Why would they take Johnson for example when they knew Tampa was desperate to unload him and desperately needed the space? Besides, if Seattle just promised to ship a pick for futures after the fact, what's to stop them from reneging on the deal?

I don't think it's rocket surgery.

Edit: The proposal is merely an example. I have no idea if this even happens.

Even if that was the case, just because the expansion draft is done doesn't mean they're not going to be reaping the benefits tomorrow. I'd be shocked if there weren't at least 6-8 trades for Seattle tomorrow all in their favor.
