Immediate reaction would be a B or B+ but the controversial pick and backlash makes it harder to like

I don't know any of these 2021 draftees.

this year i feel more of a sense of not knowing what these players will be than the past.

Last year, for example, I was just as high on Farrell as Tuch and Mysak. I'd say he's made his way close to them in terms of potential.

Aside from Mailloux, the D prospects right now are as unknown to me as Romanov was post draft all the way up until the world juniors.

C+, mostly based off the relative position of scouting reports, and all the negative press for yesterday's 1st rounder, which was unnecessary since we didn't have to pick him.

Didn't hit anything out of the park like a couple of picks last year. Roy would be closest but I've heard quite a bit about poor work ethic and a weak skater which dragged his draft position much lower than scouts had him, as he is a very skilled goal scorer despite all that.

Mailloux was picked about half a round ahead of where he was slated to go and there were better players available at the time (Raty being an obvious one).

The rest of the picks were all decent but not too out of place.a decent pick but not too out of place. Kidney, Kapanen (who is related to Kapi the f***ing idiot, holy f***), Kostenko, Trudeau, Sobolev... nothing special about any of these.

Simoneau is yet another reclamation project.

Vrbetic is the only big question. He could turn out to be another Primeau or be a huge bust, but in the 7th round you're playing Plinko anyway so no big deal.

Underwhelming crop, overall.

A Timmins draft with zero NCAA picks. I don't think that's ever happened before.

It feels like they went more local this year.... Maybe that has to do with the covid travel restrictions, so they stuck with the regions they had greatest access to.

It just feels like a weird draft class that falls right into the weird world we have been living in since March 2020.

Other than our 1st round pick.....first time I even heard of all of these guys.
I voted C cause it's mostly the best outcomes every draft will have.

Exactly this.. even last year, the shut-down happened but we saw the players through most of the season and events.. so even though it was cut short, it had a level of normality to it.

This year, we just saw leagues stop and start, some never start, kids going all over the place, the tournaments were different or canceled.. so it doesn't fit into our regular way to evaluate or learn/see these prospects.

There might be a lot of over-agers next year...

I love the Kapanen pick. Roy seems like good value. Mailloux is bizarre but I’ve already said my bit there.

No opinions on the rest, all of whom I haven’t watched at all.

I hear you. But instead of talking about helping the boy, they should talk about helping the victims, or preventing this sort or things.

Draft him, ok, but donate money to victim resources for every year he's in the organization, or create a foundation dedicated to sexual education of teens or I don't know what, but do something to help the victims or to prevent it from happening in the future. Don't just help the individual. It sends the wrong message out there.
yeah... 3hres per week of sexual education added to their 50hres of porn will do the job to educate those teenagers...

But i think that helping the boy will help also to prevent other cases so less victims. With all the visibility the kid got, reading the reactions , yet a lot of kids have learn something here

I don't know how old you are or what's your connection with teenagers/young adults, but I'm a college teacher and the feedback I get from my students is that they actually wish someone would talk to them about the reality of sexuality. The young generation is amazing, they are not dumb. Of course, you have the usual douche, but most have real questions about sexuality and... love. They know what they watch on Internet isn't real life. They want to ask real questions and have real answers, there's just no space for it. Now, I'd agree that a Habs foundation isn't the right way to provide this as a society!

Anyway, I'm out off topic. Sorry. Go back to rating the draft picks.

For me, I see what he did as a commitment to help a young man who made a huge mistake find his path again. In our society, so many ppl fall through the cracks for stupid reasons. It is good to try to help youngsters find their way ... it is one of the reasons that I became a teacher.

However, I will put more pressure on Bergie now to make sure that he actually does the work he needs to do now to help this kid. Too many kids have come to MTL and partied their way out of a career. If I were the press, I would hammer Bergie for his plan to help the kid.

Overall, with our first looking so promising a few years down the line, and some Quebecker kids, and so D and C help, I like our draft. Did we make mistakes? Sure. Are they all going to make it, probably not. But, I think we may have 1-3 NHL players in this draft.

Never thought about it that way.

Since Bergevin is gone after next season, I don't think he thought about it that way either. :sarcasm:
