Yeah, Habs should be all over that, lacking RHD in the pipeline and he could do well under MSL and especially seeing what Richardson is doing with Romanov. Not a lof of risk as buyout would be easy if he doesn't work out

Very cheap buyout if you don't like him after 20-some games, though. That's why I figured the Preds would never waive him. We don't need or care about Cap space at all. Real cash may be something different. But there still isn't huge cap risk for other teams due to the cheap buyout.

This is a great point

Still, might scare off budget teams

Semantics, but Myers' qualifying offer would be $3.06M (120% of the AAV)

That's right, they changed that in the new MOU. Still, $3.06M for some teams may be more than they are interested to pay for someone who seems like the cement has started to set rather than still being moldable.

Myers’ stock must have fallen off several cliffs. Flyers fans were so high on him
Fans are always high on their young players. Maybe they overvalued him but I don t see the issue in claiming him trying to turn his game around and extending him at a good price or trading him at next TDL.

per CapFriendly... you risk basically $1.267M in real cash trying Myers out for 20 games. The Cap hit on the buyout is practically negligible. Especially for non-contending teams, who are the only ones likely to be looking at him on the waiver wire right now anyway. I feel like teams risk $1M on players fairly regularly, but still you only do it if your Pro Scouting department thinks there is some hope with him, of course.

just want to point out that it is still 2.5m of real money to be paid. Arizona or Seattle might not like that.

if anyone was not aware, player still get 2/3 of their salary.

1/3rd because of his age. Approx. $1.25m.

Mrazek on waivers seems to be a move for tomorrow to create at least a little more financial flexibility while being able to burry part of his cap hit in the minors.

Riley Nash would be a good depth pickup for a playoff team. Good (if not great) defense and faceoffs as a RHS, but absolutely zero offense.

Really surprised the Canucks didn't make a claim on Myers. I know he's an expensive "project", but he's got the potential to be exactly the sort of thing Vancouver is looking for. Hard to see why that wasn't worth at least giving it a try at this point.
