I think the weakest part of the Comets offense is a very ineffective forecheck.

Groleau hits the post after taking the puck from the right side all the way across the top and down the left side and shot from the circle.

Comets clear from the draw. Schmelzer a shorthanded clean shot from hand shaking distance and Flodell was the man again.

Every Comets effort in the offensive zone is a stick wipe at passes from too far away to have much of a chance to touch it. Going hard and physically disrupting anything is a rare event.

Walsh walking down the slot gets the pass and as he walks to the net front breaks his stick on the wrist attempt from inside the circle dot high.

Schmelzer stopped in close as he tried to force himself to the net, but had nowhere to put the puck with Flodell holding his postg and a defender leaning all over Ryan.

Del Zotto allowed to walk right down the left side for a shot. Totally unmolested run from the blueline 5 on 5. Looked like pregame shot warmups without any defenders in the way.

Zetterlund shot blocked and hurts the Sen. Then Greer sends it all the way down himself.

Russo down almost to the dot and passes it to no one and the Sens clear it and that's it for the PP.

Flodell drops a shot into the crease but nobody can get to it before the whistle.

In the last seconds Greer gets a good scoring chance and breaks his stick on his shot attempt resulting in the puck just sliding to nowhere as the period ends.

Lehr said if he could make one addition to the Comets before the deadline it would be a D who can score and run the PP.

Comets haven't scored in their last 14 PP attempts.

Walsh scored his first goal in 14 games tonight.

Shaya said Russo hasn't scored a goal in 44 games.

Greer right in on the doorstep and the pass is on the blade and Flodell slid into it on the redirected shot. It stayed under him.
