That's because they're playing against Dustin Wolf, who I wanted Avs to draft. The dude has shown everything you want a rookie goaler to show in his first year in the AHL.
Can he actually overcome his size? Man he looks tiny in net.

That's why he was a seventh round pick, if he was 6'2" we're talking about an early 20s selection. He has everything in his game except size, so I could see him be Saros 2.0. I am a bit worried that he doesn't have the athletic ability that Saros has, but I find Wolf a much smarter goaler overall.

So what you are saying is JTC could fetch us something nice this summer, right?

Oh we doing a Dustin Wolf hype thread? The goalie taken a few picks after Trent Miner? Every since he was drafted he's been the best goalie in every league. His IQ is off the charts. It's what made him so good in the WHL, he was just smarter than everyone. It's good to see that continuing. And yeah he's not as quick/agile as Saros but he's no slouch in that department either.

Hahahahahahaha Kaut!!! And people think this guy should be in the NHL
Dislike Kaut all you want from ever making the NHL, but I find it weird that you label him as a bust from that incident. That's more pure unfortunate fluke than anything else. He was just trying to clear it.

Didn't Byram also score on himself as well?

Wow Eagles were shutout in all three losses against Stockton? That's a tough way to get eliminated.

I see they had 40 shots in this one. Did the opposing goalie just stand on his head or could the Eagles just not score?

It looks like Annunen had a strong end of the regular season and playoffs.

Strong playoffs for sure. 0.667 QS%, 5.690 GSAA, 0.575 GSAA/30, 31.74 SA/60, only one statistical Really Bad Start which he bounced back from with a 0.958 SV% the next start.

Here's the SV%'s of his last 10 starts of the regular season:
0.971
0.815
0.903
0.722
0.818
0.600
0.833
0.792
0.821
0.800

So he ended the regular season with a resounding thud. Stick taps to him though for turning it around in the playoffs.

It's Dustin Wolf the best goalie in the AHL. Some luck his way but this is just what he does.

Ok thanks for the info. For some reason I thought I remembered him having great games to finish the regular season. I guess I was wrong

Did anyone catch the game last night? Obviously stat watching it appears Annunen had a hell of a night, but how has he looked? Is he still slow as hell?

Sucks that the Eagles got eliminated. Glad to see some young guns making big contributions though. Nice run eagles!

So Annunen seems to at least have had a decent year, what do we make of Ranta? Sure seems like he had a rough first full year in the pros, also got injured at some point.
Ranta's physical gifts just don't match his hockey IQ. He's got all the gifts you would want to be a very poorman's Chris Kreider, but he doesn't read the play nearly well enough to do anything with that. If he was in a better organization re: development, I would have a lot more confidence in him turning into a usable bottom-6 guy. With the Avs, kind of feel like they have probably already moved on.

I'm starting to wonder if they guaranteed Sampo some NHL games when he signed his ELC. I can't for the life of me understand how he went from making his debut in the playoffs, starting the following season on the team and it's now at this point. Is that really on the Avs development team or the player?
