Bordeleau left college as a sophomore so it was a given that he would eventually sign a entry-level contract. However this quick audition (3 assists in 2 games) may have speed up the process.

Upgraded to a SPC for next season along with fellow teammates Trevor Cosgrove and Koby Bender. None of them have played AHL games so far this season.


It seems like no such thing as "too much depth" exists for the Marlies. They've used 8 different goaltenders this season. That's without counting Tavis Grant and Hayden Hawkey who sat on the bench as backups, the injured Carter Hutton and Ian Scott and the aforementioned Parenteau.

They said as much in an article a couple years ago. They sign anybody they can, that they think has a small chance of being an NHL player to an AHL contract, and assign most of them to Newfoundland in the ECHL. Anyone who looks good enough gets a shot with the Marlies, and the hope is one or two end up as cheap fourth line players. Even signing 20 of them every year costs less than one low level NHL free agent, and no cap hit if they don't make it, so its only money, and Toronto has plenty of that to spend.

The Detroit Red Wings today signed center Turner Elson to an NHL contract for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
Elson, 29, inked a one-year deal with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins on July 30, 2021, and has spent the last five seasons as an alternate captain with the Red Wings' primary affiliate. This season, Elson ranks among the team leaders with 21 goals (2nd), 24 assists (T3rd), 45 points (4th), four power play goals (4th) and 166 shots (2nd).
