The Colorado Eagles, proud AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, have announced that the team has signed forward Zach Tsekos to an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the season and has inked the 25-year-old to a one-way AHL contract for the 2022-23 campaign. Tsekos recently concluded an NCAA career that saw him post 39 goals and 78 assists in 153 combined contests with Sacred Heart University and Clarkson University.

Started the season with Belleville (15GP 0-5-5) on a AHL contract before returning to the QMJHL to complete his junior stage.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed forward Curtis Douglas to a future two-year, entry-level contract. The average annual value of the contract is $837,500. Douglas, 22, has skated in 49 games with the Toronto Marlies this season where he has recorded 27 points (8G, 19A). Douglas was selected by Dallas in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft.
Another addition to the list of successful reclamation projects by the Marlies who converted their AHL contracts to NHL deals with the Leafs. A list that includes Justin Holl, Mason Marchment and Kristian Rubins.

Trade deadline action!

The Chicago Wolves announced Monday they have added three players at the American Hockey League trade deadline.

The Wolves received veteran forward Richard Panik on loan from the NHL’s New York Islanders and defenseman Tarmo Reunanen on loan from the Carolina Hurricanes. Reunanen was acquired Monday from the New York Rangers for Wolves center Maxim Letunov. Chicago also added veteran defenseman Chris Bigras from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in exchange for future considerations.

7 players moved. Alt, Bigras and Jobst are on AHL deals. The rest have NHL contracts.

SPOILER ALERT:

Waiting for the Grand Rapids Griffins to sign a goalie from somewhere in the next day or two. Pickard got hurt while playing in Detroit and Victor Brattstrom just got called up to Detroit earlier this evening. Kaden Fulcher was called up to Grand Rapids from Toledo for the West Coast trip last week and did not play, but might see action this weekend.

This was Wichers' 5th PTO with the Roadrunners. He's been constantly bouncing between Tucson and Rapid City. At this point, I'm not sure what's preventing him for signing a AHL SPC.

That Talor Joseph ATO is a very interesting story. The Marlies basically had a David Ayres' situation in reverse yesterday when they beat Abbotsford on the road while using the home's team emergency goaltender. Joseph made 34 saves and registered an assist in a 5-3 win.

Tavin Grant who last played 4 years ago in the WHL was the backup.

I guess Billy Christopoulos is the most likely candidate. He plays for the ECHL affiliate (Toledo) and has some AHL experience.

Christopoulos was in fact a PTO candidate but he was snatched by Toronto who, as mentioned above, is also looking for goaltending depth.

Toledo : Billy Christopoulos, G loaned to Toronto (AHL)

Also from the ECHL transactions :
Indy : Mitch Gillam, G returned from loan to Rockford
Trois-Rivières : Alexis D’Aoust, F returned from loan to Grand Rapids
Utah : Kyle Betts, F signed ATO, added to active roster

Gillam recorded a shutout in his only game with Rockford. D'Aoust played 7 games for Grand Rapids who signed 2 new forwards today (see post above). Kyle Betts was on Colorado (Eagles)'s roster for a few days but he was released without playing a game. He'll now be joining their ECHL affiliate

B2B starts for Joseph against Abbotsford.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday signed center Samuel Dove-McFalls (duhv-mihk-FALLS) to an amateur tryout.

Dove-McFalls was a fifth-round draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and has spent the last four seasons at the University of New Brunswick. With the Reds, the 24-year-old amassed 55 points (25-30—55), 74 penalty minutes and a plus-21 rating from 2018-22, excluding the canceled 2020-21 season. Dove-McFalls helped lead New Brunswick to an Atlantic USports title and a USports University Cup in 2018-19.

Prior to his time at New Brunswick, Dove-McFalls registered his best junior season in the QMJHL in 2017-18 when he totaled 73 points (22-51—73) in 64 games with Rimouski Oceanic. In the same campaign, the Montreal, Quebec, native was given the Guy Carbonneau Trophy, awarded to the QMJHL’s best defensive forward. Dove-McFalls won a QMJHL title in 2016-17 during his fourth and final season with the Saint John Sea Dogs. The center bagged 182 points (64-118—182), 285 penalty minutes and a plus-60 rating in 276 contests in the QMJHL.
