How many points are we thinking this year? 80? 90?

I think 50-60 is realistic over an 82 game pace. With a condensed schedule no telling, but I feel it’s not unrealistic to think we could see 50+ pace. If he doesn’t hit it, I won’t be disappointed, but it doesn’t seem far fetched.

My fiancé has probably one of the first Shesty authentics out there. She knew what to expect from him and as soon as he stepped in and had 2-3 games under his belt and we knew his number officially, she had it done up.

Can’t go wrong with either of the guys I have, no, but Lafreniere is just getting my blood flowing lol

I think I told that story on here. Offered to buy my wife a new white Shesterkin the day he was called up and she insisted on a White Lundqvist Jersey because she felt bad for him. Killed me

I don’t think he can hit 60 pts due to opportunity. rangers aren’t a bottom feeder. They’ve got a ton of talent up front. He’s not going to be on the ice in every big spot where as if he were drafted by Detroit that would be different. These kids are usually force fed into these big mins so the points come at the expense of losses. We won’t do that we didn’t with Kakko either who barely got any top pp time. So we’ll see. He may bust thru and force more big mins. We will see but I think 45 to 50 points would be a ton considering the depth in the top 6.

I think we all feel more confident in a Laf than we would with a Jack Hughes. Hughes is tremendous skater and passer while his shot is weak and his physical play is non-existent. Devils are waiting for him to grow too.

Meanwhile, Laf isn’t the tremendous skater Hughes is yet has all the rest. Not that Laf is by any means a poor skater.

What year to win the lottery

As I've said a few times, if Laff goes "sexy" #91 would look awfully sweet on him and he can make it his own as no Ranger ever has. If he goes non sexy, he'll likely go with #22 as only one I can recall who represented that # with any distinction was Mike Gartner and of course New York's very own Nicky Fotiu. Let's see if history can be our guide as to what previous #1 picks have chosen. I'm just going to go back to 2010. And by they way I only do this because this is one of the most important decisions in NY Ranger history and because I'm on a Zoom call from work and I'm bored as shit....lol

2019 Jack Hughes goes with #86. We'll put that in the sexy category.
2018 Rasmus Dahlin goes with #26. We'll put that in the non sexy category.
2017 Nicko Hischier goes with #13. We'll go with non sexy.
2016 Auston Matthews goes with #34. We'll put that in the sexy category.
2015 Conor McDavid goes with #97. As sexy as it can get.
2014 Aaron Ekblad goes with #5. We'll put that in the just about as boring non sexy as one can get.
2013 Nathan MacKinnon goes with #29. We'll put that in the sexy category
2012 Nail Yakapov goes with #64. Still can't believe what a bust he was. But he picked a sexy #...lol
2011 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins goes with #93. Yup sweet sexy #.
2010 Taylor Hall goes with #9 tho he wore #91 when he went to Arizona. So non sexy.

So of last 10 #1 overall picks, 6 picked sweet and sexy #'s whereas 4 didn't. Of those 4 tho are 2 defenseman and they often times pick normal boring defenseman type uniform #'s .

I'd say the odds are, Lafreniere is going to pick a # in the 8's or 9's. I'm sticking with my original prediction of #91 seeing I know he would love to have #11 but he can't. But he'll want to have a #1 in there and so #91 works perfectly and he'll instantly become the greatest #91 in Rangers history...lol

why any player take the 69?, i wonder. i got a guy Guillaume in my team he wears it with proud. weird guy.

If we played out all 82 games, we were already on pace for a 92 season in 2020. I think we get that much. We are going to have a full season with Shesterkin, no Staal, Jacque Martin coaching the D and PK, Lafreniere. Additionally, we could see better seasons from Kakko and Chytil. All in all our goaltending, defense, and PK should all get better and we are upgrading our forwards if ever so slightly so we should at the very least get that much. The young kids won't make us worse but they can certainly make us a lot better. I mean, this answer also depends on the RFA signings but assuming we keep everyone at least through this season, I feel like we'll hit 80 points for sure.

We’re going to win a lot more games because of our goalie alone period

then you hope kids take steps and Lafrenière comes in and performs.

our D isn’t worse. It’s certainly not better but replacing Staal with Johnson is a push.

If we walk from Strome we may see a better defensive effort up the middle. Maybe a few less points but certainly better defensively imo.

I know development isn't linear and this is all hypothetical, but if I look at the team, here's how I see this upcoming season going:

2019 Panarin > 2020 Panarin
2019 Zibanejad > 2020 Zibanejad
2019 Buchnevich < 2019 Buchnevich
2019 Kakko <<< 2020 Kakko
2019 Strome > 2020 Strome
2019 Kreider = 2020 Kreider
2019 Chytil > 2020 Chytil
2019 Howden > 2020 Howden
2019 Lemieux > 2020 Lemieux
2019 Gauthier > 2020 Gauthier
2019 Fast >> Replacement
2019 DiGiuseppe << 2020 Lafreniere

2019 Trouba << 2020 Trouba
2019 Skjei < Replacement
2019 Staal < 2020 Johnson
2019 Fox << 2020 Fox
2019 DeAngelo > 2020 DeAngelo
2019 Lindgren = 2020 Lindgren

2019 goalie tandem <<< 2020 goalie tandem

Overall, I feel DeAngelo, Panarin, Zibanejad and Strome will regress a little simply because of how spectacular their seasons were in relation to their careers. Trouba will have a better season, not being dragged down by Skjei. Johnson is a slight improvement over Staal. The wild cards here are how Lafreniere does and who replaces Skjei

You think Chytil and Gauthier are gonna take step backs in their development?

I'm with ya on 95% of them. Don't agree with Chytil, Gautier and Lemieux taking steps backwards. Matter of fact, I think Chytil in particularly is going to really take a step up in class. Unless something unexpected occurs, he's going to be in the top 6 and and 2nd PP unit consistently.

I don't see how he doesn't get at least 40+ points this upcoming season. I can see both Gauthier and Lemieux both being 10-10-20 or better types injuries withstanding.

Overall tho...excellent job.
