Well Coleman and Wood were slated to be depth players. I know I was COMPLETELY shocked when Coleman made the team. I think a lot of us thought it was going to be a Speers kind of deal.
I think you'd have to be bat-shit crazy to rank Coleman and Wood over Zacha and McLeod back then.
Coleman is a good lesson on why it shouldn't be seen as a bad thing that we have a lot of middle and bottom six prospects. Coleman has always been a bottom six forward, he was traded for Foote and a 1st as a bottom six forward, and he helped Tampa win a cup as a bottom six forward. Guys like Moynihan, Talvitie, Zetterlund, Maltsev, etc. are all just seen as low end guys, but they can absolutely end up being valuable impact forwards from the bottom six.
