A bit disappointed but let's see how he develops in the NCAA... not the most encouraging 1st year in college for him.

I don't see the offensive upside but hopefully Holland and co look like geniuses in a few years

Don't love it, don't hate it. Would have preferred someone with more game-breaking ability but at least it was a winger and not another D-man.

The top of the draft going in order sucked but I'm fine with the pick with that in mind.

Welcome to the Oilers Holloway!

I guess the good thing about this pick is that he plays a pretty simple, straight-forward game and is fast. If everything goes well at least he should be able to complement one of our two top lines. He's also likely a left winger in the NHL, something the Oilers are really lacking in.

Maybe this is the future Oilers forward core:

Holloway-McDavid-Puljujärvi
RNH-Draisaitl-Yamamoto

The good news is Holland picked Larkin around this spot.

Holloway consistently applies pressure on the backcheck, pickpockets puck-carriers, makes timely hits, wields a disruptive stick -- you name it. He never flees the zone early and is a capable east-west attacker who shields the puck from opposing defenders really well. -EliteProspects 2020 NHL Draft Guide

Turned tv off - not a fan of this pick at all

if he turns into a top notch third liner then I guess that is ok

I think we should cheer for him now instead of being pissed (I hate that we didn't get Jarvis either).
As I said in the other thread, I like his fit with this group.

Keep in mind that he was highly touted going into this season but played on a poor team so that might have affected his numbers. Just some food for thought and also trying to talk myself into being happy about the pick haha.

I'm just glad they didn't take a defenseman.

Get him out of Wisconsin ASAP, IMO.

Why? I think it's a good place for him to develop. Hopefully he'll take the next step offensively next season. 2 more years in college (and maybe some time in AHL) and he could be ready for NHL action. NCAA is a great development route.
