I think Kakko will be an excellent player, but I don't think he will come anywhere near that, especially on the Rangers. 70 points would be a great season from him.
Jeez, as a Rangers fan I'd be thrilled if he just hit 50!

I have my doubts that Jack Hughes will make a big impact next year. Kakko looked so much better against men at the worlds.

Darkhorse, Frost: Was the best player last year in camp and preseason for Philly and is the best player again the start of this camp. He's also 185 lbs now.

The guy who should have been the AHL Rookie of the Year this year — Tyler Benson.

In all seriousness, Hughes. I want to say Makar but after seeing Dahlin not win it this year and knowing how collectively stupid the people who vote on this award are, I don’t see a Dman winning it.
You think Dahlin should have won?

I voted for my favourite squadron's rookie candidate because he's the best and you're all haters and biased for not agreeing with me.

Voted Cody Glass as a darkhorse.

But one who might even do it that's a big darkhorse, that is if he makes it, is Stelio Mattheos.

Top 5:

1 - Kakko
2 - Makar
3 - Q. Hughes
4 - Kravtsov
5 - J. Hughes

Any of these players have a fair shot. I think Jack Hughes will take a few years to really put it together. Should be a good race.

Considering the dominant shifts Kakko was already showing against NHL players, let alone seeing him give Suter a good run for his money in the @ Worlds, it's difficult to think of any better front runner. Kratsov is another player I would definitely keep a close eye on.

I don’t know why people are naming Kravtsov. I’m not even sure he makes the NHL to start the season. His KHL play doesn’t indicate he’s ready.

I feel like a goalie could win it. One of the better young backups could break out.

Kravtsov and Kaprizov are getting than Tolvanen/KHL treatment. They're getting pumped up

Kaprizov produced much better. I think he’ll have a chance to win the Calder the year he comes over.

Kravtsov probably would if he played an extra 2-3 years in the KHL, but not after one year. All those good KHL Russian forwards that are spoken of spent many seasons in the KHL.
