Have not watched Spain - Germany, but the stats look pretty remarkable. Spain were unimpressive in Euro qualifying and at the last world cup, what is going on?

Possession: Spain 65 - Germany 35
Shots : Spain 14 - Germany 1
Shots on target : Spain 6 - Germany 0

Jogi Low. That’s what’s going on.

Then Germany is truly f***ed...

Yup. All we can do is hope that Jogi can copy Flick's Bayern or somehow stumble into the right lineup/structure. Which wouldn't be that hard if he gave up on playing Toni's corpse & we had an attacking right back. Our best 11 would actually be pretty damn good, but alas I don't expect to see us hitting the tourney with some iteration of...

Sane - Werner/Havertz - Gnabry
Brandt/LeGo - Havertz/LeGo
Kimmich
Halstenburg* - Süle - Koch - Klostermann*

lol Pavard almost copied his WC/Argentina goal tonight against Sweden

he's got 2 international goals and they're identical (tho against Argentina it was from longer distance)

It’s so absurd that Low is further weakening the side by refusing to call up Muller who has been one of Europe’s best players the past season and a 1/2.

You know how amazing a top 6 would be with Muller playing behind the Werner/Gnabry/Sane trio with Kimmich and Goretzka holding the middle...I mean it doesn’t get any better than that. That’s essentially Bayern Munich only replace Lewandowski with Werner.

When you have THAT kind of talent there’s simply no excuse to be fielding these inept, disinterested, lackadaisical lineups.

??? Really???
Yeah really.
This german lineup is not particularly impressive. That defense looks awful on paper and on the field. Can't say any of the 3 MF are world class right now. Gundogan is inconsistant, Kroos is done, Goretzka is a good player but not a WC player IMO.
The front 3 is WC though none is a Ballon d'Or candidate, but you can't do anything when the players behind you in MF and D are so so.

This is actually good news for Germany because this lopsided of a defeat might FINALLY get Low fired, and once he’s replaced they have unlimited potential with all that talent...not to mention Muller will once again be in play.

Low has held this team back and it needs to end. Germany continues to underachieve, and this embarrassment vs Spain has to be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Wasn’t the same said after he led them to the worst World Cup campaign in their history? Or when he actually got relegated in the first edition of this tournament? UEFA bent over him, changing the rules to allow them back into the top flight, maybe his bosses will too.

Goretzka is an outstanding young player, definitely world class. Starts and excels for Bayern. Muller and Kimmich should/would be there if not for Low as well. Those 3 together anchor the midfield for the team that just won the champions league and dominated Europe. Gundogan isn’t quite on the level of those 3 but he’s still very good and gets a lot of minutes for man city(another top flight club). Then you’ve got attacking midfield options in Reus and Havertz. Overall they’re loaded up top and in the midfield. It’s the coach who refuses to play the right lineups or get CLOSE to the maximum effort of the players he does select.

Keep in mind the defense is missing some players because of injury. And again it’s not so much the players being poor as it is the coach not getting them to perform. Outshot 22-1 and outscored 5-0 so far to this above average Spain side(that just lost to Switzerland in their last match)?!?!?!? That’s not on the players that’s the coaching/leadership. It’s a mess and Low needs to go!

It’s been said and repeated for years now it seems. But never have they had a loss quite like this. This is far worse than any other defeat they’ve suffered.

Löw, Sorg and Bierhoff out. Rangnick or Kuntz in.

There’s a real possibility. I mean look at those stats it’s insane...for those who have watched this has been as bad/one sided as Brazil 1-7 Germany. It’s been that ugly. Low’s team has quit on him and it’s obvious. A change is needed.

No idea why you're talking about Kimmich and Muller. And Goretzka is certainly not WC right now. Reus? Havertz? D injuries?
What are we talking about here? I made it clear I was talking about the players on the pitch.

I think there’s some truth to both points, in my opinion.

There is clearly a certain dysfunctional element, reminiscent of what Argentina has gone through in recent times, but I also think it’s fair to say they just have the least potent and squad since atoms 2005 or so.

They should be better than have been, but where in some of the more recent tournament I had them ranked in the very top tier of contenders, they’re probably one level below that tier right now.
