I used to love when goalies had a bunch of random mismatched companies for equipment.

Yeah same with skaters for me, but it’s more rare now since there’s such fewer companies in existence today.

James Van Riemsdyk was a good example until he had to blackout STX’s logo on his gloves this year, they opted to not pay the advertising fee to the NHL.

Im glad Goalies are back to having cool patterns on their pads. I remember in the early 20-teens that most every goaltender switched to the all white everything pads for some sort of perceived advantage.

I don’t know if it was posted yet, but Casey DeSmith’s mask is the best pens mask I can remember

It kind of looks like aka mask you’d find at a discount sporting goods store. I don’t like the DaveArt masks because they are too busy, but this is just a bit too plain.

He also wore it last year.

Supposedly the white blends in with the netting, making it harder for shooters to discern, though there's been no statistical proof that white pads results in higher save %.

I know that some NHL goalie coaches require their netminders to wear mostly white if not all white pads, though. Vanocuver IIRC does that.

That's actually pretty cool. I wonder if we're going to come to a point where goalies get tired of DaveArt's over designed masks and a more minimalist style becomes the norm.

That's what I had heard. We know throughout a season a tender will sustain tons of scuffs and puck marks on the pads, so unless he switches out his pads or cleans them religiously they don't stay white. I feel like realizing that was a factor in them change back to patterned pads. As well the no statistical proof.

On the note of DaveArt using friend it is a pretty common practice for certain types of personalities in creative fields. I have known photographers for instance who have done similar thing

Ian Clark in Vancouver had a rule that the outer rolls had to be white. He's the only one I remember making explicit demands, but there could definitely be way more out there.

albeit he’s now got Vaughn pads, block, Bauer stick and CCM glove.
As a fellow goaler who currently has a Vaughn set, I can tell you they make terrible gloves. I think Ryan Miller and there is another goaler I forgetting his name in the league who use Vaughn leg pads, but CCM blocker/glove combo.

Two more of Dave's "friends". I realize it may sound a bit dick-ish to turn an eyebrow up to that constant description, maybe they all are really good pals and routinely have Zoom golf dates?

I really like that Grubauer one, could be Dave's best mask of the season after the Jake Allen one.

I like it more than Allen's, but it's close

Yeah artists, celebs, musicians call anyone who makes them money their "friends" not a big deal. DaveArt has other issue to talk about rather than about how he posts on social media.

Let's start with lens flares, continue with composition and then maybe we'll get to his usage of the word 'friend'
