I would rather Studnicka playing first line minutes in Providence. Then I have Frederic and Ritchie switch back and forth on the fourth line. I may also start the Season with Hanafin partnered up with Carlo instead. Other than that it looks like a very solid line up.

I’m Calgary and I’m giving up a 23 year old top LHD who plays 22 minutes a game and is getting better I want a lot

Plus his contract is insanely good

if I inherited Calgary this morning and Donny Hockey calls

I’m immediately asking Debrusk and calling my scouts to give me evaluations on Vaakanainen, Lauzon, Zboril, Berglund etc

I probably go Vaakanainen if Calgary but he’s unproven and could go anyway

DeBrusk
Vaakanainen
Bjork

Bennett
Hannifan

I’m not looking to recreate the 1975 Charlestown Chiefs.

I don’t even want the Hathaway types on my team

I’ll take a couple or three of Trent Frederic/Marcus Foligno/Sam Bennett types in my bottom 6

When you find and intelligent beautiful women why not hope she’s a heck of a cook as well
Agree 100%. I'll take Hathaway types though. :D

Too soft. In fact, this is even softer than last year's Marshmallow Gang.

I like where you're going with this and we do have some of these guys. What we need is a coach that's not afraid to use them. Ritchie played physical vs Tampa and got benched.

Plus Pasta, Marchand, Bergeron, Coyle and Grezclyk.

or swap Grezclyk for Debrusk and two from Kase, Smith, Bjork and Ritchie.

8 total = Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, Coyle, DeBrusk, McAvoy, Carlo and Hanifin

7/3 option = Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, Coyle, DeBrusk, Smith, and Kase. McAvoy, Carlo and Hanifin.

No way this team gets Hanafin. In our collective dreams. Patches is realistic but I don’t see the numbers working at all. If we get either of those players you can kiss Chara goodbye.

I’ve always liked him

he turned 25 this month !!!! Have him in great condition and have skating coach work on his first couple of steps

put him on third line LW and power play and he will do great

he’s a excellent athlete beyond hockey

I can’t believe people want to toss him in the trash

I’d love to see Neely work with him as well

other then Gordie Howe the vintage healthy Cam Neely was the ultimate combo of skills and toughness

If I’m Neely I’m having Ritchie as a pet project

if Ritchie is a 15+ third liner that’s a major plus - I think he can be better than that

Third line third wheel with Coyle & Smith is fine - that line 650-675 lbs

Danton Heinen types unless they are good enough to play in top 6 I don’t want them on my bottom 6

Cant believe at 24 years old some are so quick to pronounce him a bust

Do you think Bjork has real value or is just an add in most deals. Good contract but a softer, fast player who looks like a 4th liner. I can see a mini Dan Paille, without the grit, but not much more.

I think Kase may still have value.

Ha ha I know

I would as well over some of the swill they been putting out and i would have been glad to have him against St Louis to settle down Sundqvist and Barbashev but I’d rather have Marcus Foligno or Trent Frederic types on my 4th line who I project as significantly better players

but a hear yah

Good question - he’s been disappointing I thought he would be better. Marchand seems to think he’s going to develop but this is a big year.

the Bruins need to hit on Kase or Bjork atleast one

my take is especially Bjork needs to be 50 point guy to justify a lineup spot on bottom 6

If I’m going to have a streaky guy who occasionally doesn’t need to take a shower after a game I’ll take DeBrusk on my top 2 lines where he can get 25-34

I am not a fan of non physical take a game off players on bottom 6

Unless Kase gets his shit together in a major way no bleeping way am I protecting him over Frederic

Frederic barely shaves - Smith will be 32 no way am I leaving Trent out over that guy as much as I like

You think a full year of Ritchie and Lauzon, getting Miller back, Frederic and Zboril making the team makes them softer? The only tough player vacating the roster is Chara, who while tougher than 99 percent of the league today, his playing days are coming to a close.

Counter proposal

Marchand -- Bergeron -- Pasta

Laine -- Krejci -- Studnicka

Kase -- Coyle -- Smith

Ritchie -- Kuraly -- Bellemare

Ex: Frederic

Hanifin -- McAvoy

Grz -- Cernak

Zboril -- Lauzon

Ex: Miller

Grubauer
Halak

In: Grubauer, Laine, Hanifin, Cernak, Bellemare
Out: Rask, Carlo, DeBrusk, Bjork, Wagner, Clifton, Moore

It all starts with an offer sheet to Cernak @ $4.3M ( the cost is 2nd pick). Cernak saw Sergachev signed to $4.8M, so Tampa will try to lowball him and give him an offer somewher around $2.5M. Cernak would consider an offer sheet only from a cup contender. It would be a tough pill to swallow for Tampa to match Cernak @ $4.3M as a RFA player that has been offersheeted and matched cannot be traded for 12 months.

The domino effect IF getting Cernak -> Carlo expendable

Carlo + Bjork + 1st pick for Laine -> DeBrusk expendable
DeBrusk + Vaak + Clifton + 3rd pick for Hanifin
Rask ($45k retained) for Grubauer + Bellemare + 3rd pick
Wagner for 5th pick
Moore + 3rd pick (Avs) to any taker to fit under the cap

Total cap hit $79.4M with $2.1M in the cap space to accomodate the bonuses if reached.
Exposed to an expansion draft: Ritchie, Grz, Zboril, Lauzon

I would rather keep Carlo over Cernik. I mean Carlo is not only cheaper but is also the better player. Also u see a huge drop off in net by swapping rask for Grubauer. Then u still have an unknown on that second wing.

Right , so shouldn't you then trade Grizz clearing the Cap space and getting back assets before you lose him to Seattle.

That assumes Gryz will be the one Seattle takes. They could for sure, but who knows what they will want and need? There are so many variables in the mix here, especially several months out ahead of the draft. And then again, Seattle could be bought off to take a certain player without it costing an arm and a leg. I'd rather roll with Hanifin (should he come) and Grizz on the left this season than lose Grizz and make the same type of hole we just filled with Hanifin. Let the draft take care of itself.

All valid points.

Carlo in the cup run I would definitely keep. Carlo in the bubble not so much.
Cernak is comparable to Carlo. What I like in Cernak's game is his snarl and no fear to drop the gloves.
Grubauer is a step below Rask. I agreee. However if there is another bubble tournament I would rather not have Halak as go to goaltender.
With the second RW I would give a shot to Studnicka to show us what he can do in the top 6. It's almost an automatic that either Bergeron or Krejci will get an injury bug for a few games.

So we better not give up a lot in the deal to get Hanifin.

Yeah, better to throw away our last chance at a Cup than risk losing a 2nd line winger or #4 defenseman.

I'm being a little cheeky there to make a point, but if we're going to go for it then let's go for it. (It wouldn't have been my first choice but by keeping Rask and Krejci and signing Smith they are definitely going for it).
