This is the thing with the AHL though - it is a 'feeder' league and by virtue of that is a tool for the parent organization. Some NHLers are going to transit through the AHL but a lot of them aren't.

Canucks should have done a better job stocking the farm with depth (what else is new) but it hasn't hurt them this year. Aside from the lack of depth at center the young players on the farm have stepped up and improved, and that's really the only objective for Benning & Co as far as the farm team is concerned.

Does it matter to Benning or the average fan if the team's talent comes up through the AHL? Not really, as long as the talent comes from somewhere.

Will next year be different if Baertschi and Goldobin are gone? Yes, obviously. But others will be signed, whether they are AHL lifers or new kids like Madden. There's a lot of turnover for in the AHL between teams - it's always been this way.

Wild! (And rats ... I was following Avangard and hoping to be the first to report on his return, but I missed it. Any more info? Ice time? Anything?)

And ... to reply to my own post: he played 13:33 and was a +2 in a 5-2 win.

Linus Karlsson had two goals and an assist today. He's up to 7 points in 4 matches since his move to BIK Karlskoga (Allsvenskan).

Utunen had 13:52 TOI in his match (which did go to overtime, but still, that's not bad).

Arvid Costmar scored a goal. He's at 33 points in 18 games in the U20 SuperElit.

Wow!....unheralded young Swedish players who seem to be adding elements to their games.....you just never know. Pierre Engvall and Victor Olofsson were both seventh round draft picks. Would be a big bonus if either guy could even get signed and contribute in Utica as depth players.

The Podfather with a primary assist today for SKA, won the puck on the forecheck and dumped it off to a team-mate who ripped it with a one timer past the goalie, 3 points in 3 games now(2G, 1A)

Is Carl Grundstrom a good comparable to Hoglander? The amount of ice time he's getting seems to be close to what Grundstrom got with Frolunda

So Woo hasn't taken a step back offensively, but Zamula is the better option according to his coaches. I guess that's a good thing, right? Kinda?

well, perhaps woo is the better option for 5v5 and zamula is as good as woo on the pp, so they put zamula on the pp, and thereby have more minutes available from woo for other stuff.

i think what we can conclude from this season is that woo has offensive tools but at this time does not drive offence 5v5. that makes him project most likely as a 3/4 dman ceiling candidate in the nhl. however, lots can change and it is also possible they were misusing him.

It also seems to go unnoticed but Woo was coming off a pretty serious injury at the end of last season. Takes time to come back from that.

would look for a strong second half from Jett.

Pierre Engvall gives me confidence that Linus Karlsson might have a future in the NHL and Karlsson has really started to turn the corner in Sweden’s 2nd Division .

with his new team since the trade he now has 7 points in 4 games and it looks like that was the positive spark he needed .

let’s hope Karlsson can keep up this incredible scoring pace and hopefully comes over here next season .

it’s looking more and more with every day that passes that we have gotten the better end of the Jonathan Dahlen trade and salvaged what first looked like a trade that went to waste .

but GMJB appears to have struck gold

Four games, man. In a second-tier Swedish division. Maybe pump the brakes a bit.
